MUX-HD will only go down to 480P (at least that's what the spec's say). Does anyone know of another good quality HDMI converter (HDMI to HDMI) that will go down to 480i? I want to be able to use it on the input of a Lumagen so the Lumagen can do all the deinterlacing.

This seems pretty silly. You want to introduce interlacing so Lumagen can deinterlace it?

It's not silly. Native DVD format is 480i 30fps. So rather than have a DVD player read the DVD at 480i and then use the DVD player's deinterlacer, converting it to 480p, it would be best, and make the most sense, to use the deinterlacer that is in the $2,500 Lumagen. Otherwise, all the Lumagen is doing is doubling 480p to 960p and tweaking the colors.
Anyone know of something like the MUX-HD that will pass 480i?
EDIT: Actually the same philosophy could be applied to any Blu-Ray player when it's reading a standard DVD. It's reading the DVD at 480i and deinterlacing it...same, same. Setting the BD to output 480i when reading standard DVD's would allow the Lumagen to do all the work of deinterlacing and scaling...much preferred.

Kal, As far as I know it does. I have a LG BH100 Multi format player that went into the MUX-HD and into the lumagen. Now most BD player don't output 480i over HDMI. But in in the lumagens EDID Menu you can turn on and off certain input resolutions, if I set the Lumagen to only accept 1080p then some how the LG BH100 output 408i to the lumagen( Sd DVD), i then set the lumagen to only accept 480i and 1080p and that worked as well. so yes it must pass 480i . So if you can get the lumagen to trick your player to output 480i then its almost as good as SDI.

It may have something to do with the chips used in these devices and the number of modes they can support. I've noticed that units that go up to 1080p will only go down to 480p but ones that are limited to 1080i can and do go down to 480i. But, thanks for the link I will contact moome.
Does anyone know of any others besides moome that meet the stringent quality we all are shooting for?
EDIT: I didn't see the reply from Athanasios. Great information! Thanks so much. I'll still contact moome to confirm it's application in all cases (or does that only work sometimes).

For some odd reason I thought the desire was to take >480i and convert it to 480i so the Lumagen could deinterlace it. I now see the original format is 480i. Still, spend the money to deinterlace 480i material as if it is worth it? Ok!

As Athanasios indicated (and Moome later confirmed) the MUX-HD will pass 480i in bypass mode (and YCrCb 4:4:4). So, it's pretty cool right now with my DVD player outputting native 480i and then letting the Lumagen upscale and deinterlace, it's like SDI!!!
ALSO: Moome may not communicate very often BUT MAN CAN HE SHIP FAST!!! Five days from payment to on-my-doorstep in Tennessee! From Taiwan no less!!! That was faster than some floor brackets I ordered from the lumber yard across town!
Moome is fast when he has the goods!! Good job (and good gadget...it works as expected)!
