|
|
I'm running Windows 7 on my HTPC along with Vista right now to compare and likely upgrade if I can get everything to work.
The one major sticking point right now is my resolution over RGBHV to my G70 seems to be limited to 1600x1200 60.
I can go into the Nvidia control panel (Geforce 7950GT) and set the resolution to 1080p 60, but it reverts back to 1600x1200 as soon as I try to make the change.
I can also use Powerstrip to set the resolution but even here the resolution seems to be reset when running certain screens in Media Center?
How do I get around this? I'm thinking it is as simple as changing the monitor drivers for my G70? But what do I change it to? When I try to write custom drivers with Powerstrip it has failed before.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Erik

I don't know if Win7 is the same, but you always used to be able to install the monitor .inf file for the Sony GDM-FW900. That would let you run up to 1920x1200@75hz, I think.

I'll give that a try.

Nothing has really changed in W7 - it can be painful to go beyond 1600x1200 in XP and Vista too.
You'll need to override EDID and set the max higher than the 1600x1200 you get for a "default monitor".

Erik,
I made up a Monitor.inf for you that should work you will need to unzip it....Getting it installed is a little funky....Let me know if you have problems, I can make some screen shots on how to do it.

Huh?
I never had any issues on XP or Vista, it just worked.

Mike,
I'm having problems getting it to install. When you have time I'd be happy to see how you got it working.
Thanks,
Erik

Nevermind Mike,
I found a workaround replacing the non-PNP driver with another Windows 7 driver, now if I could just remember what I did...

Good...It's been 4 months since I did it. Are you using RTM or RC?...I'm still running RC...I'm not sure how long RC will last.
