I have read through the lens thread and there is quite a lot of really good information about technical aspects of various lenses but I don't seem to see anything about contrast.

So my question is does the lens type affect contrast in other words is contrast improved with say hd10-f over hd10 etc??

Thats a good question if I may say so. Assuming all (unfiltered) lens are equally clear then I would imagine that a more optically sharper lens would allow a brighter image but we're probably talking million'ths of a lumen or whatever its called. I doubt it would be noticable on-screen.

Coloured lenses would be a different matter most likely, hmmm, like I said, good question.

Mind you, I'm on about brightness rather than contrast. Not sure any unfiltered lens would affect contrast.

If you look at specifications of say the higher end projectors the contrast ratio varies between them but the tube spec is the same. The lenses are not listed but may well be different producing the variation in contrast ratio. Alternatively the contrast ratio figures are just crap.

While I am on lenses most of the chat about the better lenses seems to be concerned with corner focus. Do these lenses improve PQ only on the edges or right across the image. Did Sony and Barco etc only produce the better lens for edge focus??
