I fired up my projector tonight and got this....
(i was told that we got some thunderstorms and some "power surges" while i was away at class) is it fried? i have another identical machine with a bad HV supply. I think that one has the brighter sony tubes. although it does have a faint vertical line on the one side of the screen.
I shut it off and back on and i got an image that was not converged. when i pressed CONV all i got were the lines again. i shut it off and back on again and just got the lines. no image at all.

Wow dead men wear plaid but ECP's prefer stripes.
I know it's no condolence but this summer so far I've lost a router, video card, power supply and a whole other PC.
Maybe Curt or Tim will pop in on this one...
Oh yeah and 3 power bars. Grumble...

no its no condolence but thanks anyway, this sucks :'( at least i have another machine standing by, i guess i can just put the HV power supply from this one in my other 4100. Think i'll just ignore the faint yellow line and go with the brighter tubes.

I've asked Curt to pop in here. Let's see if he can get you back going.

Either a bad Dallas chip, a bad CPU board or the set simply needs a full reset.

Check the ECP 'tech tips' on the main site, it's outlined there.

the ECP lives to see another day! it just needed the CPU reset. convergence program is back. i'll just have to re-converge my tubes.

Somehow for me... it was unfulfilling...
(just kidding, glad you got it running.)
Dallas chip/CPU board glitches do strange things to ECPs.

yeah I noticed. I'm always sort of nervous when something is gonna go wrong with these things... because its so old. but i'm sure its a lot worse with a digital even if its new.

Actually, a digital is easier to troubleshoot:
'Throw it out, buy another one'.
