|
|
Guys, Me and a good mate of mine got our two BG1209s at the same time from a 'educational institution', both are consecutive serial numbers and were used in a blend. Mine has around 4000hrs his only 2000. So it seems the blend was discontiuned after a while.
OK I've had mine setup for quite a while now, and Paul's not really been using his as he said it's had some issues.
Anyway his main issue was that the red convegence was drifting. Knowing that drift is usually associated with poor mechanical installation I thought I take the 2hr drive to have a look.
My 1209s has always run very stable, and has zero drift, i never let it 'warm up', and it's stable from the get-go. I've always been a tweeker, so it's been a while since I've done a full setup from scratch on the Barco.
Anyway I set up Pauls as best I could, and went through everything bar astig and it looked very good. I made sure that all the electronic adjustments are very close to mid-point. The barco was up to operation temp when I started and the 5hrs of setup ensured it was warm. But now he's experienceing the red drift problem again, starts off fine, and then the red tube goes off, he recons he needs to adjust it 3-4 in a movie.
I'm assuming it's a board problem. Can anyone suggest what could cause drift with only one tube with good mech & electrical setup?
Thanks Guys

Swap the convergence trays between sets to see if it follows. I did that with an 808s here, and while one tray drifted in one set, it didn't seem to in the other. Both sets have since been sold locally and are rock solid.

LOL, you should have asked first Dan, then taken your convergence tray with you!

Ah...Mark...it's the "see if it follows" bit, that's the issue.
You see it now seems better that he brings his down to a stable machine to see if his convergence tray screws up mine.
I really wanted to be sure that the mech-elec setup was good first before I started board swaps. Process of elimination. The 170kms distance is a bit of an issue, but at least we're honing in on that needle in our hay stack.
Curt, what are the logistics of obtaining another convergence tray if it comes to it, or would a board level repair on the red section of the tray be more preferable?
Cheers
Dan

If it is in the tray, you then need to swap the driver and output board to see where the issue is. Most likely the output board with the heatsink on it. I have spares, but need your old one back to repair and put into stock.
