.. I'm coming to TORONTO sometime in Sept.
I've got a 4 projector install to tweak in London for about 2-3 days, need to service a bunch of other sets at the same location, and can spare a day to meet you and anyone else that's interested. It's about time I met my webmaster and the most prolific poster on this forum.
Not sure of the date yet, I need to get a deposit from the customer, but I'm guessing mid Sept or so.
Post here if you're interested, maybe we can have a mini meet, or at least a mini drinking session?

Anyone without a criminal record that can cross the border is also welcome. Mind you, with the degenerates here, I don't think many USers will show up. Not because they don't want to, but because they CAN'T!

Shouldn't we let Kal know his place might be invaded? I'd need a ride to Ottawa and back if he's open to the idea. Analog? I'll cover gas.

Do you guys from BC have any idea of the distances you're talking about ?
Just curious if you know...London to Ottawa is a 6 hour drive, and if you don't go through Toronto at the right time, it can be more like 8 or 9 hours...London to Toronto can be about an hour and a half to two hours...at 3am, but pretty much anytime from 7am to 11am, or 2pm to about 7pm its more like 3 hours minimum...
Toronto traffic is worse than Los Angeles, people who live 30 minutes from their workplaces leave at 4:30am to be to work by 7:30am...
And in Ontario, if you get caught going 50km/h over the posted limit, they take your car away for a MINIMUM of 7 days and a MINIMUM of $2000. fine, just for freaking speeding...
But if you're a golfer, play around London, there are a half dozen world class courses with green fees half of what you'd pay in Toronto...

i lived in London for 12 years, left 15 years ago and i still miss it. and ottawa from june to sept is awesome (unless you have humidity issues )
london to TO is fast if you take the QEW/Hamilton route, although landing at Pearson misses most of the 401 cruft so heading out the 401 might be just as fast.
heck, TO is so close to london that i used to have a subscription to the ballet in TO and would pop over, shop, listen and head home in a day. Same for a Jays game - nice trip there and back. Ottawa (where my parents still lived when i was in London) is definately 5 hrs from TO, much of it through some great scenery, particularily if you cut down to hwy 7 just before Kingston.
One of the best things on that trip is the 30ft by 20ft billboard that the province put up showing the ticket price for the speed you might be going. real effective!

I get 2 hours from Mississauga to London. I forgot that it was 8 hours to Ottawa, but heck, I'd cover airfare if Kal was hosting, or I'd fly in just to see him. Flights can't be expensive...?

That might be an idea. I've never been to Buffalo, and I could probably get Mike Parker to meet up with us as well.
What about avs in Rochester? I'd love to meet Alan and David..and DON'T start with the negative comments...

I don't know yet. I need to get 5 Marquees shipped to Ontario, they have to install them, then I fly out to tweak everything. I've got two sets ready to go, three are waiting for tubes. Also need a deposit from the customer, as I've had a number of sales cancel out lately that I ordered parts for. I'm sure it's a go. So figure on 10 days to prep the sets, that puts us to the end of August, a week to ship, a week to install at their end, so I'm guessing mid Sept?
I will post as soon as the sets leave here, then I'll know more for sure. For meeting up with people, I don't mind renting a car or carpool with someone from Toronto. I'm assuming I'll fly in and out of Mississauga, as the customer is paying for the flight, but that could change as well. I figure on me having 24-36 hours of free time, then I gotta get back to work.
If anyone wants to offer up their house for a mini 'event', that's great, otherwise just driving a few hours wherever to meet up for dinner and general BSing is fine by me too. I know Cliff and others spend a lot of time and money putting official 'meets' together, I just want to meet some of the people I've been emailing with for years.
