Very cool thing this guy did I really like the end of the video when they project an image on a 3D model.

If CRT Manufacturers could do this they wouldnt be a dying breed

So it's not that they weigh 100 times as much, are 20 times as big, are 1/10th as bright, and cost $40,000 - it's the calibration?

They can, that's why they ditched the CRTs.

Yep. He's also the Johnny Lee that went on to work for Microsoft as a researcher and worked on Project Natal with the Xbox group.
Here's his blog if you're interested:

He's an effing SMART kid.

Yeah, that guy is pretty neat. Though a lot of the stuff on his web site has a very high wow:difficulty ratio, once you get over the cleverness required to come up with the idea to do it and the basic methods involved. Not to downplay it - he should be commended for doing that stuff - but a good deal of what he does is a creative rather than a technical challenge, a bit like my motion systems.
It's not so much HOW you did it as THAT you did it - and to my mind, the 'that' is more important. There are a ton of guys out there that have the programming and math know-how to do things like he does... but there are very, very few guys like him, that have the vision to see that something can and should be done in the first place.
