Here's a real videophile projector for ya: www.cinemin.tv

480x320 resolution, 1000:1 CR, and a whopping 8 ANSI lumens. They claim it will project a 60" diagonal image, but if I'm figuring it right, that translates to about 0.7 ftL. I'm surprised you'd be able to see it at all!!

But hey, it fits into your pocket. $350.

Yes, .7 fL at 60" diagonal is silly, but don't forget that the brochures for our beloved CRT projectors listed screen sizes of 200, 250, and even 300 inches. That's 25 FEET diagonal! My G70 would probably wouldn't make 2fL at that size with a 1.0 gain screen.

Back to the realm of reason, the pocket projector would probably be doing 3.5 fL at a more normal 27" TV size, or 12fL at 12-13". Again... This thing fits in your POCKET! Just think... Video presentations from an iPhone! Movies on the airplane on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper taped on the seat back... no laptop necessary!

I know it seems silly right now, but when they get the res up a little on these things to say, 720p, I think they'll kick ass!!!

But, the Apple product will be cool and it will work. On the other hand, Dell or Microsoft could put it in one of their products... It would be cheaper than if Apple put it it in the iPod, but it'll be junk. In Dell's case, nobody will want it because it will be a boring, lame, uninteresting product. In Microsoft's case, it'll be a little cooler than the Dell version, but it will die in huge numbers and have to be mass-replaced and the company will have to take a billion dollar write-off to do all the repairs to save face with customers. Oh, wait... That would mean they'd have to have actually sold more than 37 Zunes. Never mind.
