So the new addition has been sitting unused once I discovered the tubes are toasty... I need to get this thing going.

Does anyone know a reasonably priced source for decent tubes for these? I was going to go with a 9" conversion and the uber tubes, but that's more cost than I can justify now.

Thanks,
Dan

I guess it depends what "budget" is - but I'll plug myself here:

It may or may not be what you're looking for but for brand new tubes that's as budget as you'll ever find Smile

Dan keep in mind that you will need to cut the old tubes out of the LC assembly and pot (glue) the new ones in with silicone RTV. Also, if your starting with a set of ready to go AC tubes like Ben's you will need to cut those out of the AC cooling chamber as well. Lastly, you will need a set of new Bellows from Nashaou66 in New york and 5 or 6 bottles of coolant. it's quite the job, I just did three 9" tubes and it was actually a PITA.
I had a set of bare 8" tubes sitting here for quite a while but just recently potted them into AC chambers, so your timing is terrible. Wink I do have a bare naked Red but that's all.

Oh I didn't realize you have an 8500LC. Yeah doing the tube transfer to the LC housings is a lot of work...but then again, you'll pretty much never find new tubes complete with LC housings. It seems you have a few unpalatable choices:

1)Let it sit or use it as-is
2)Downgrade to 8500AC
3)Do the work to put new tubes in the LC chambers
4)Buy complete 8"LC or 9" tubes (If you can find them)

Hello

VDC Shreveport may have some options for you, as 180DMB22s minus the faceplate will fit the 8500LC hardware. 318 747 0140 talk to Charles.

your not suggesting he re-use the 2 old bellows on there are you Nash? Shocked ............. Wink

Dan this is your best bet but I would just pay the extra few bucks and get all new bellows. Doing just the bellow isn't too bad. Cutting the old tube is the hard part and really requires a special tool for safety reasons. Described here

well the bellow i used for the Apple rubber Bellows came from this 8"LC set. This bellow came off just by pulling it off and no RTV was on it, also i don't think the other tubes are leakers. But for 850 shiped, I'll replace the bellows, add new glycol and ship them.
