I bought a G70 at an excellent price with new tubes that had a blue tube glycol accident but Curt thought it would be something I should jump on. And it was a good thing. But having some what looks to be a very serious issue after two hours.
Got my glycol today and replenished it. I'd say it was needing three oz. I think I was surprised not by how much glycol I found inside and around components but how little. Mostly only on the top plate some very light toothbrush like flicks on the MT board. I did my best to clean it. Glycol is so thin and oily sticky and its hard to tell where it is. I did the best I could. I noticed a loose wire. It seemed to be a black high voltage wire of some sort that came from beneath the fan. On either side of the tubes they had these. The red tube had a red and orange collar on the wires, the green had a green and yellow and the blue a blue and white. The white was detached. I plugged it back where it looked like it belonged. I closed it all up, held my breath and fired it up. It worked great. I had no source but all tubes were firing. I had it running off and on fine for about two hours.
Working from the floor I got it as aligned as I could but the blue was skewed right too much and the red and green skewed left. I couldn't make them meet without maxing. I don't know if it was a coincidence but once shortly after maxing it shutdown with a fan code error 37. I got this about two or three times in attempts to turn it on again. The three fans I could see seemed to be moving. This time the error code was 34 which I read means "Abnormal load on a LOT on the PA board.Then it shut down and I heard like a pop under the cover on the blue tube side. No burning smell or anything. I decided to open the lid and turn it on so I could see where the issue was and maybe reset Skew to factory settings again. I saw a flash of light (bright greenish) on one of the boards, possibly the little MT board, or the large one beneath it.
I thought I was boned but I have recovered. See post below.
I am going to procede little tonight but think I should do even more cleaning even though I don't see anything.
Suggestions welcome. Need some wisdom on how to take precautions. I sort of blew my wad on this when I shoudl have paid off the last of my student loan. I'd couldn't live down the shame if this became a brick.

It looks like I am out of the woods at least for now. I pulled the MT board all the way out this time. Cleaned both sides even more, snapped it back in and turned it on. It displayed the pattern and text. I only kept it on for a minute though.
I'll edit the above post but what happened is unnerving. I don't even know what to ask.
Okay. Just got the fan error code 37again.
I'll edit the post above a little.
Its hard to type in the middle of a freakout.

For the electronic stuff, Curt is definitely 'The Man'. On the setup side of things, one of the first things you should do is zero or center (halfway) any electronic adjustments. Put your 'cross' test pattern up open the top cover (bottom, if ceiling mounted) and adjust the yolks around the CRT necks. This will rotate the image. Set them as close to vertical and horizontal as possible. You will then require very little electronic correction. This is the only setup proedure outside of mech. focus that can't be done with the remote. If you really want to do it right, get a copy of Graham Johnson's CRT setup DVD from this website. The G70 is quite straight forward to set up. Take your time and you will be rewarded with a fabulous picture. Check out the screenshot thread p. 18 or 19. There you will find my method for doing geometry using DVE HD Basics as a source. Good Luck!

Pull the Pa board and MT board and send both to me. I'll bet the problem is on one of those.
