I have a Barco 1208 and would love to be able to connect it to communicate with my BARCO RCVDS05 switcher so I don't have to change inputs on both units. I know this port is not a standard RS232 port so can I crimp up a 9pin flat ribbon "D" type male to female pin to pin cable and plug it in without doing harm.? If so will that work ? If not what are the pins I need to connect. I don't have the information to be able to work it out and the installation manual does not give me protocol and pin out requirements Can you guys help out please.

Regards from Rod

A standard straight through serial cable will work fine but NOT a null modem one. Also when connecting cable make sure both RCVDS and Barco projector are completely turned off (i.e. unplugged or at least using the physical power switch on back). There is 36 volts going down that cable and people have toasted controllers connecting it when powered on or using a null modem cable. I had my former Data 808 connected to the RCVDS 800 and it worked great though the damn thing was pretty noisy so I got rid of it.
