After having the opportunity to use both my Cine9's for a couple of weeks, I noticed a problem with one of them that was solved by swapping out the neck board with one from my other projector. The problem was a streaking of green that would show up on some things, like the DirecTV Guide or a golf ball. It showed up as a bright green fringing on the right side of the object against dark backgrounds, but was not visible against black. I at first thought my green tube was going as it looked like blooming, but was only confined to the right side. After researching the forums I saw where some other Barco users have also had this problem and it was the neckboard. So, after a long story, I solved this problem and I'm finally getting to my questions.

I notice these boards (R763027) have a gain adjustment pot P1 on them. Do I need to worry about adjusting this upon changing the board? If so, how do I adjust it? I see nothing in the service manual that addresses this. I am a retired guy with an EE degree and I have some equipment, such as a scope and meters, that I used to be very proficient in using before I got into management, so I can handle most stuff.

Another question. Can anybody give some troubleshooting tips on finding out what's wrong on the neck card that was causing this problem? There's one 10 microfarad 250v electrolytic capacitor that I plan on checking. What else should I check?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Bob

No, Barco neck boards are factory calibrated and pots (there must be also cut off pot) are usually sealed with glue.

If you like to play with broken one, check buffer transistor and caps. If problem is end transistor, good luck to finding new one. Those are custom made for Barco.

Thanks for the response Ile. Yes, there are several pots that are glued, but there is one pot not glued and placed with easy access from outside labeled GAIN. That's the one I'm asking about. I have seen no effect on my calibration after replacing the faulty one. Also, I have put the weak one on the blue tube of my backup projector. Sine blue is somewhat defocused anyway to get enough blue to properly calibrate it, this small amount of bleeding is not noticable.

I've got both pj's working about as good as can be. Now I need to matchup the geometries so I can take some screenshots of a stack. Mr. Green
