Hi
I just got mysellf a Sony 1270 and i have a couple of questions for now.
Is there a 16x9 trick with the remote like what is on the 1001?
How do i get in to the menu to adjust things like the white warm up screen and the AKB ect?
I have pressed test for 5 seconds which allowed me to get the convergence buttons working.
Can i put a Component signal into this or is it RGBHV only? If it is what do i need to get component?

Try Enter, Enter, cursor up, cursor down, Enter to get to the "Service Man" menu. This works for the G90, maybe for yours too ?
The only "trick" for 16x9 is the vertical size control, just squeeze the image till its the correct aspect ratio. Set your player*(whichever player you use, DVD, BD, makes no difference) to output "full screen" or unsqueezed, then do the squeeze with the projector size controls.
I don't think the Sony takes component natively, you'd need a component to RGB transcoder, available from many merchants advertising on this site, or ebay etc...

Elaine....Horizontal?? Wouldn't that be Vertical? 
Perhaps it's different than my XG.

Deleted my answers because I was wrong (dammit that almost never happens  ). I seem to have forgotten everything about the Sony 12xx machines.
You can download the manual from this site though and it will tell you how to do those things.

Hi
Thanks for the info so far.
My G70 has an RGBHV/Component input card that I have hooked up with the HDfury using the RGBHV part.
Can I use that card in the 1270 and take the RGBHV Only card out of the 1270 and use it with the HD Fury in the G70?

Guys, the enter-enter-up-down-enter only works on the newer chassis like the D50, G70 and G90. On the 12xx chassis, you just hold down the TEST key for 5 seconds. Then, the projector asks if you want to go into service man mode. The problem can come if you try to do it from the IR remote... sometimes. But, the OP got into service man mode if he was doing convergence.
I don't remember right off hand, but I can't even recall if the 125x/127x even has AKB/ABL. The newer chassis do, but I can't remember on the old machines. If they do, you don't control it from a menu... Maybe a switch or a jumper... It's only been a year since I took down my 1271, but it seems like 5.
For the white warm-up screen setting, hold down the POWER ON key for five seconds.

I tried that i dont get any white screen options.
So can i use the rgbhv/component input card from a G 70 on the 1270 so i can use the component from my dvd player?Seeing that i only use the rgbhv part of that same card matched with the hdfury on my g70, can i use the rgbhv card from my 1270 on my g70?.
With Page i only get 4 screens but the manual say 5, i have tried this in and out of serviceman mode.

You must be in service mode, then use the page key to access more menu pages. Holding down the power button does get you to the warm up time adjustment menu. Turning off the AKB is not a menu option, you have to unplug something or it's a switch. I am beginning to remember the Sony stuff now. I'm not sure what component card you are talking about but if it is a Sony card (RGBHV/Component) then it will not work with component in a 1270 (too old).

Hi
Its just the 5 bnc card that you can connect 5 cables to and get rgbhv or three and get component.
If the 1270 is to old for component how are people using this projector to watch dvd?
Dvd player are all component out or just svhs/composite.

hope this might help, iam running a sony 1271q.Iam watching upconverting dvd, hdmi cable thru the HDFURY2 than into the projector via the 5 bnc connectors. And prior to this setup iwas doing dvd thru S video cable into a Dwin transcanner from the transcanner to projector via 5bnc to 5bnc,monster cable .

I thought when i bought this that i could just pop in the 5 BNC rgbhv/component card like I have on my G70 and i could watch my Progressive scan dvd player on it, but i dont think the 1270 can take component at all.

Doesn't the IFB-12 work in the 1270? It does rgbhv and component.

I have the 1272 with an IFB12 and it works just fine So should it in the 1270, too. Note that you have to change some jumpers and DIP switches on the card itself to get component input:

How to enable progressive scan component on an IFB12 optional input card: On the dip switches located on the input plate turn on switch 2 and 3 and leave all others off. Jumpers 3 and 4 are labelled Sync on one side and Video on the other. The default is Sync but you want to move these to Video. Jumper 5 is labelled HD on one side and GS on the other. HD is the default and you want to move this to GS. Then just install the board and hook up the cables according to the labels on the rear of the IFB12 (Y, Pr, Pb). You don't need to adjust anything in the on screen menus. This will allow your older Sony 125x/127x set to accept 1080i and 720p over component.

It _MAY_ not work on the 1270. Apparently the input area was a slightly older design, and I remember from posts back on avs that the 1270 did not work with the IFB 12. Hopefully I'm wrong, someone post and let us know.
