I am looking at a receiver that the owner says shuts down after it warms up. Is there a common component that may cause this problem or could it be a bunch of things?
Thanks
Dan

1) Bad capacitors
2) Bad chips.

Without a make and model and someone intimately familar with the unit as to potential trouble spots on that particular set, that's about as close a guess as I'll give.

Also, it could be the set shutting down to some strange load from a particular set of speakers. Another set might make it work fine.

Add to that......if it plays fine for a while until it gets warm, then shuts down, then after a cool down it will play fine for awhile again until it gets warm again......then it should be pretty easy to find the problem with some cool spray.............could also be a poor solder joint or ribbon connector and the board flexes as it heats up.........even a gnd screw......
