If it's an LC, be sure to cover the lenses before transportation. C-element's get toasted when the sunlight shine directly into the lense.

Use the trailer and use one of those super cheap foam matress covers folded into quarters so it will absorb the shock.

Hopefully, you can at least get a hand loading it into the trailer. Hopefully, you have tie-down straps to keep it from sliding around.

Short answer: Carefully. I drive a Crown Vic BTW so I understand you on the Marquis.

Long answer: If you are going any distance to pick up a large item and don't have the vehicle for it, look at renting a van/pickup from standard car rental place as most of them have no mileage fee. I rent cargo vans and pickups to haul stuff from Enterprise quite a bit. It might be more per day but it save you $$$ when going any distance. I have also rented vans from car dealers in the past as well.

Yes and yes to the hopefullies.

The biggest problem is unloading my tools from the trailer. Generator, air compressor, table saw, saw- horses, you get the idea. It's loaded with heavy stuff.

Thanks for the foam mattress idea. I was going to use my grand daughter's crib mattress even in the Matrix .Disposable is better though.

I used one when moving cities. Cheap a$$ eggmatress thingy kept a lot of stuff from getting damaged. I think it was only $20.

I brought home a Marquee in the trunk of a Matrix a few years ago. It was a tight fit. I also brought home a Marquee in the trunk of a 2004 Chevy Cavalier, easy fit, it slid right in. I also bought home two Marquee 9500 in the back of my Malibu Maxx, along with my wife and son and a weekend worth of overnight bags for all of use Smile

Marquees were designed for military use, they're tough. I've transported them on their back, sides, upside down, and received them stacked on pallets, its difficult to harm them in transport...

Seriously, just plop it in the back...you'll have tons of room...

I've trucked pj's around in the back seat of my 20 year old Toyota more than a few times...on their side...

PS: Pay CLOSE attention to the guy who said cover the lenses, burning the C-elements is REALLY easy...

ok simple trick. if you really have to you can do this all by yourself but an extra person can help. bring a board or two with you at least 6-8 feet in length. once you have the projector near the car place one end of the board/boards going into the back of the car and leave the other end on the ground. place the projector at the bottom and use the board as a ramp and push it up the board. it should slide fairly easily.once it is at the top you can lift the low end of the board and use leverage to slowly dump the unit until some part of it comes to rest on the inside of your cargo space. remove the board, positon the unit properly for transport and close the hatchback. it will take some time and patience, but it will save your back.
