Again, how many times does this make? Is he ever wrong? Mr. Green

tse has spoken about motion resolution in the past and its advantages with CRT. According to Sam (apparently The Cow isn't OK:)), his tests revealed the following results:

PJs:
Marquee 9500LC 9" PJ: 1000(Static) 1000(motion) CRT
C3x1080: 1080(Static) 550(motion) 3 Chip DLP
11s2: 1080(static) 500(motion) 1 Chip DLP
RS2: 1080(static) 450(motion) LCOS

(PS:I owned all of these PJs for at least 3 weeks. Some numbers are from memory since I didn't write them down.)

Direct View:
My living room 32" sony CRT: 600(Static) 600(motion)
720p Panasonic Plasma: 700(Static) 500(motion)
Work Viewsonic LCD: 1080(static) 300(motion) ouch!

He used this test disc:

He posted this over at AVS:

IT is interesting how poorly the digitals are doing. According to this article, digitals are catching up with regards to motion, but that is in specific applications. The C3 is the new consumer Sim Lumis that the high end digital guys are talking about.

I think that is the $47K machine Alan gouger had and says his 2003 VDC 9500 ultra blows it away in overall image quality and film like experience.
its fun talking to Alan on the Phone about his new found love of CRT.

Yes, it's true. I am right 50.1% of the time. That's a tough average to keep.

Check

to see why CRT projectors have great motion response compared to sample and hold digital techniques........

You are right more than that, at least when it regards CRT. Laughing

Have you tested the Sony 4k for motion? Have you had a lot of customers (or any) buy the LCOS pjs?

The new Panasonic plasmas can display full 1080 lines in motion (G10 model e.g).

The Sharp A950 model LCD can also display the full 1080 lines. Same panel as the lower models,
just better electronics behind it. Too bad it's like $3k for a 56".

That does explain why the RS-2 looks so crap in-motion. When nothing moves it's very detailed but
movies have an annoying habit of not being static.

Anyone know if the RS-20 has the same motion issues? What its "motion" resolution?
