Just got a replacement DC board from Clarence and got my G70 working again. Thanks Clarence!!
I have another problem that I've had for quite some time. The horizontal raster is extremely noisy. Almost like little thin bars in the background of the picture. They are on the complete screen from top to bottom, left to right. It is very disconcerting!! When I just display the internal total white screen it looks horrible. While watching video, the picture looks great, except for the fluttering tiny bars in the background.
Don't know why but I thought replacing the DC board might help, it didn't. Could it possibly be something with the E board. I know most of you pros out there have seen most every gremlin, any help would surely be appreciated.

Noise in the picture can sometimes be very difficult to isolate. Are the lines in all 3 tubes? Are they running from top to bottom or left to right? Your description doesn't quite specify which.

What I would try first is disconnect all inputs and display the internal white pattern again and see if there is any change in the lines. Then, is the power cord a 3 prong one? Is so, then try a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter to eliminate the ground. Is there any difference?

You are just trying to eliminate the obvious issues first.

The noise is left to right in the horizontal raster and on all three colors. I have tried removing all input and just displaying the internal white screen, the noise is still there. Have tried the 2/3 prong sugestion and no change. In fact I have rolled in my old D50 in place of this G70, and with the same power cord and inputs, it looks perfect. So it is something internal to the G70.
I was thinking the E board, because in my limited research, it appears it supplies the horizontal drive. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Grant

Well if the lines are from left to right, then that would be more of a vertical problem. But they could also be coming from one of the power supplies. Could be the input board. For that matter you almost couldn't rule anything out......I'm guessing they are interference lines. Do they roll up the screen or are they stationary? I have even seen florescent light, computer towers, amps and what not cause video interference in displays. And the fact that the D50 doesn't have them still doesn't rule out external interference because it just may be less affected by it.

You probably need to just try different boards to isolate it. And that is still going to be difficult. There's a guy over your way that may be able to help if he has spare boards to try.
