|
|
I normally keep my 8500 unplugged when not using it. So I go to plug it in tonight and instead of hearing the fans and other noises it normally makes, there is just nothing. No lights. No noise. Nothing. I verified there is power at the plug, but have no idea where to go from here. Any suggestions on what to check? Is there some kind of fuse or something else? I got the set from Curt around 4 years ago and has been working great the entire time until tonight.
Thanks,
Bill

I didn't figure after 4 years it would be under any kind of warranty.

You'll have to ask, I know for a long time Curt offered a lifetime warranty, when that changed, I don't know, but shooting him an email won't take but a few seconds...

Ummm no, that was PSI in Wisconsin that did that, and try and get warranty from them now.
WHat I do is put a 90 day warranty on the set, very liberal with that mind you, and 1 year on any new tubes. Tech support is always free, and I give big discounts on repairs/parts for the life of the set.
Check to see if the fans are still spinning on the LVPS. Pop that front metal cover to see if they are on. If not, then there's a big 10 amp fuse in the LVPS, but almost guaranteed it's popped because something fried on the LVPS.
Shoot me an email, I've got lots of LVPS here.

No I didn't check for a fuse inside that metal cage. I'll do that as well.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I checked the fuse in the metal cage. It was fine.
I borrowed a LVPS from a friend and the CRT powered right up. whew
Is the LVPS something that is repairable or just buy a replacement?

Curt can probably repair it. But do a swap with him. I remebr jea Hong lee suggested to look at these parts if you "have problem" with LVPS.
His translated page Look on the left side menu for the 9500LC upgrade, he has some interesting things in there.
here is his comments, not sure exactly what he means by problem but its worth a shot,

Also check U18 IC which is UC3844 and 1ohm fusable resistor i circled.
and go on to repalce Q24,26 and ddiode D60 |
