I've been running a 1272 in a cave for five years now with a cheapie 8' wide pulldown.

Lately, I've been anxious to upgrade to a 9" EM LC set and go to a nice 10' wide screen. Am I on crack for thinking this is reasonable? Do I really need to do a stack or a 2.X+ gain screen to make that happen?

I'd sure appreciate any feedback...

Dan

You know if your room isn't too wide you could go with a high power and an 8" projector. A 9 inch would be better of course. I run my Ampro 4000 at 10 feet wide ( when it's running lol )

Maybe one of the Barco 808s's that Curt has and a Da Laite high power?

I have a 111" wide 2.35 screen with my 1251q (lower end than your 1272) and I have no problems lighting it up. I run my brightness at 23 and contrast at 67. It's plenty bright. Give it a shot with your 1272 first. Smile

The picture above is a self portrait of Nashou himself, realizing that he'll be eating beans and bread for a loooong time, having spent all available cash on projectors. Very Happy

I've done a locall 9500 Ultra install on a 12' wide screen. I personally thought it was too dim, but the customer loved it.

If you can get the proper placement the High Power screen is excellent it would work fine 10' wide. If I couldn't use High Power and still wanted a big screen I would look at a blend, stack, or a digital.
