Hello everyone,
I am a newbie setting up my projector for the first time and I think I am having some problems with my keystone adjustment or something could be very wrong.
Here is some background as to where I am at.
1.) Reset all adjustments to middle via service menu
2.) Adjusted Keystone and bowing adjustments via random adjustment menu, made the pattern square for raster.
3.) Focused all three colors via install menu
4.) Centered square green raster, centered R and B raster as well.
5.) Lense Towing.
6.) Adjusted Keystone and bowing on screen to be square.
7.) Manually adjusted green gun skew and brought R and B to as close as I could get them.
Ok now that I have that layed out...
This is were is gets odd...
At this point the green pattern looks good and square and in the center of my screen.
Though the R and B patterns look a bit odd.
all of the patterns line up, within reason, on all of the screen except the right two feet.
Both the red and the blue bow up on the right quite significantly...
It seems that red and blue need bow and keystone adjustments but I can't figure out how to make that happen in my barco. Everytime I go to adjust the bow and keystone it only gives me the green tube pattern. I suspect this is correct and the same information that green has is transfered to blue and red then something is not right.
Am I missing something here or is there something more sinister afoot!

Uhh... have you done coarse/fine convergence on R and B?

To add to what perisoft said you use convergence to bring red and blue in alignment with green. Outside of a few pots/coils for basic adjustments inside the set there are no geometry controls for red and blue. You get green looking good and then use convergence to get red and blue aligned on green. Your Barco will only have one set of convergence controls (essentially only "fine" control) because it is an older example. Your screen shots look good if that is what it looks like without convergence being set.

Ahh, oops on the coarse convergence not being in the 1208/2. I've only ever used a Sony 1271 and my bg808s, so...
Well, I had a Barco Vision 600, too, but I don't think that really counts.
Anyway, convergence is really easy - it will automatically guide you through the correct zones in order. But like secstate said, get the geometry as perfect as you can on green beforehand. And wait until the PJ warms up a bit before you do the convergence.

First off, thank you very much for helping me out with this I really appreciate the input and I am excited to get this beast up and running.
I have some additional questions:
Would it be a good idea to offset the skew so that the distance I have to adjust the digital convergence is less?
As of now the left side of the pattern will not need much movement at all but I have to max out the vertical shift when trying to align the red pattern just to get it close on the right side.
Does this seem like a reasonable idea?

I've run into the vertical shift issue... I'm not an expert, but everybody around here seems to think you should minimize electronic adjustments. Have you checked your mechanical setup - that is, is the PJ level? When the PJ is level, are the crosshairs in the internal pattern (that you get when you do a guided setup) level? If not, you might need to rotate the yokes on the tube necks (the big plastic ones close to the front, if it's like my 808) to level the raster. If the crosshairs aren't centered in the tube face, you can adjust vertical position using pots on one of the cards in the PJ (check Curt's page on the 1208 for info about where they are).
I welcome corrections from people who know better than I do, though. I just know my techniques have resulted in a stable setup with pretty good convergence, so take that for what it's worth...

On my 1209s I left the raster opened up and adjusted the angle of the projector so that the amount of keystone required was very minimal. The rear of the PJ hangs lower than the bracket would put it so I used a unistrut mount to get the desired angle.

Yeah, I adjusted the yokes, I am going to go back and readjust the blue and red right when I get home and try some more tweaking. For now I have all day at work to think about how to adjust it..... its gonna be a long day.
I can't wait to get this thing perfect.

I use the vertical pots the shift to center the red and blue rasters on green in the vertical direction. Curt's 1208 or 808 tips show these pots. Also don't adjust these except when everything is reset to midpoint. Otherwise you can end up using some electronic adjustment. Same goes for the yokes.
