I have found a marquee 8501 with mount and winch. I am going to look at it tonight or tomorrow. Is there anything I should be seriously picky about. [1] power on. [2] display 100 IRE test image. [3] project image [4]?

Price for unit is $1000.00 has new vdc red tube. I thought red wore out last? Is this something to be wary of?

I not sure if I'm over paying but it is local 125 miles away so no shipping costs. Perhaps a good deal? 5200Hours on machine,5075 on tubes.

Thank you
Dave

most likely a fialment overvoltage killed the red cathode. check the voltage at P14 or ask the seller if he's ever addressed the issue.

The freight people have been telling me has always been $200. plus cost of Building crate of $50 to $100. A flat $95 is fair. Who ships for that price?

Thanks, Dave.

That's an incredible deal!

I used to pay $135-$165 for ForwardAir a couple of years ago, but I called recently to check on shipping a XG and a 1292 and the prices had doubled.

Maybe now that gas has gone back down the prices have fallen again too. Building crates takes too much time anyways and I don't like the risk of damage in transit. So I just stick with local buyers.

i'm done with them ,they used to be so easy and I go down there 3 weeks ago and there's a security guard, locked gate, people inside all stressed out and very unfriendly. They charged me a $20. pre-pay surcharge because I was paying with a MO I had to drive and purchase at 7-11 , their policy. Screw them, at Pilot air freight I hear "good morning Dragan, how are you doing" , those guys are the best Thumbs Up

$1000 seems high for a set with 5000 hours. Yea, the red CRT is typically the one that wears out last, it is possible the red CRT went bad for some other reason. If the original CRTs have 5000 hours on them then the blue and green likely have wear on them.

Well it's a short drive {200 miles] .I will finally see a crt in action and see what tube wear looks like with my own eyes. If nothing else it will be good research.

Geez, if you're gonna drive 200 miles just to see a questionable Marquee, then you can drive from MD to VA and see a G90, G70, XG, ECP, and a 1292.

And then walk next door and see wallace's sweet PG setup/calibrated by Ken (who also did my G90). Heck, you might as well line up a visit to see Wm K's blendzilla... dual Marquee 9500's on a 12' screen... he's just 10 miles away.
