Yikes! Not a recommended test for the average user though.

It would be funny to toy with a seller though. "Ok, it looks pretty good, let's just drop it from waist height to make sure it's a stable unit..." Wink

It was a matter of me putting the MArquee on its side, then bumping the castered cart with another set.

But let's not hijack the thread, I really wanna report on the longbows, REEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLY curious as to what they can do.

Got one in and will possibly do a quick set up tonight if I am up to it Wink I was working
on a FCM issue the past few days, i know, I know set up the LongBow!!! But I love
the challenge of solving a Problem and I am getting close on this one, One of the resonant
caps aren't being Switched in and I am not getting the proper voltage reading on the
Driver mosfet to open the gate on Q114 of resonant cap mosfet to switch it in. Think its
the Zener diode... oh wait i went off tangent there for a bit. here is a pic of the longbow
next to last years 9500LC Gov Liq find courtesy of Bruce and my trusty M800 on the ceiling
that has allowed me to still watch movies while i messed around with the 8500 that used to
be on the road case that the scope you see is on behind the Longbow, I just love saying Longbow!!!

Longbow #1 I Nick named "New moon " ( in honor of Indian name's given to Helocopter military heritage)
for being the first into the theater. I'll need a name for the second one too, what can you guy's
come up with to coincide with his twin new moon?

Well here is New Moon with the gang

Off for a Starbucks to keep the economy going here in West Seneca, hey another Indian Name!
It was Meant to be !!!

Ok, now mind you this was a very quick and rough set up, no Scheimphlug, no CPC magnets,
very rudimentary convergence and no color calibration at all!!! And I dont have my
tripod or my freinds nice camera so this is with a PAS
Fiji finepix f10 set on night mode at 200 iso set on top of the PJ.
Tv-One scaler is used, so that plays into it as well as i am still learning it.

DVE 1080p@70Hz( I don't have 72Hz set up with the TV-One yet)

I had to have brightness way down to 10 and contrast at 40 but for the pics I raised them a bit, a calibration is definitely needed

Now for a pic of the 2035-02p Rev21 VIM Some things I have never seen before,
Must be for the LongBow aspect ratio which was preset for 16x9 when i first turned it on.

Maybe TSE can tell us more about these Revisions.... He's away for the week so we'll have to wait.

What are these three trimpots and extra resistor for?

CLOSE UP

It also was not able to sync properly to 1080p@60 i had to raise it to 70, not sure if it
was the timings in the VP or if it is some other mod VDC did or this 2.35 aspect version?
TSE said there are some things on the HDM that were changed( as were on the Vim as we have seen)
and also the software is too IIRC from what he told me.
I have the Schematics for what to undo on my PC at work i need to look that over, but he
said they should be ok as is. I also have ringing on the usual left edge that i need to take
care of with the VP once i mess around with the custom timings. That wont matter though
once i go to the blend as those will be different.

Well thats All for tonight....

Very cool. Can't wait to see what you think after a proper setup.

I like the picture with "the gang".

Variable cap+resistorīs parallel to FB resistor near clc449... Maybe they are tweaked all possible BW out of those 449.
Those resistors seems to be "normal" mods that are mentioned at tech bulletins.

i was thinking the same thing Jarmo, is it on the feedback resistor(261 ohm).

i have seen the three resistors with the long tubes before but not the three that come to one point?

Are those 1,5mega ohm ones? that was that "visible faint vertical line on dark picture" tb if i remember correct.

Edit: http://www.curtpalme.com/docs/ElectrohomeMarqueeTechnicalBulletin_LineFix.pdf
It seems to be same TB mod, resistors are located just little different.

They were common on all VDC 50-2035-02P VIM's somewhere around 2003 and after. They are what makes for the bandwidth increase tse told you about. It's a really neat mod he developed using SPICE.

Thanks Mike for the info, looks like Jarmo was right also. I wonder if that mod would work with the El5166 chip in there? Not sure i want to try it with my babies but if I knew what the part is and how to adjust it I might try it on another one of my 2035-02p vims i have lying around with the EL5166 chip i like so much.

Thats what it looks like, i just heard about this my self. I am not sure what it
entails but it be great if you could explain it a bit more Walt, I love to learn !
I just wonder if it work on the EL5166's with the same circuit?
