Ok, so I've gone and gotten my self a vga breakout cable to use on the pj. Got it all hooked up with a quick convergence.

Here is my question

I can send 800x600 into this no problem whatsoever. Anything higher than that and it dooesn't seem like it wants to stabilize and the menus are scrambled. The convergence goes out of whack as well.

What do you think is the deal?

2 things. You need to 'T' the H+V lines together and you'll need to converge for 1024x768 or whatever resolution you are running.

I would sugest 1080i for the HD stuff. It's wasy on the projector at 33.75KHz

Ok, well I had the forethought to get a T connector when I got the Breakout cable. Connected the h and v sync together and plugged into the h sync/comp input.

Still the same deal. Shifts the image off to the left, darkens, and the menus are scrambled. Am I missing something?

You have sync issues somewhere. Try a different computer first to eliminate the source, but a fault in the projector could be on almost any board. I can test all the boards for you though, and replacements are cheap. It will be one of the boards in teh back card cage if it's within the set.

What monitor settings are optimal for crt projectors since they don't really have any drivers for them in any os? I just chose a 1280x1024 generic monitor. Should I have chosen something else?

Oh, and I do have powerstrip.

One last thing, are 3dfx video cards projector friendly?

For that projector I would run 1080i ( 1920x1080 in powerstrip then check off the INTERLACED box ) for movies

For desktop use I would go 800x600 or 1024x768.
