|

I just painted the sides and back of my 8500's case and reinstalled those 3 pieces. I am now getting both h.fail and v.fail error lights, along with the error light itself. I double checked to make sure I reassembled everything correctly.
Any ideas of what I'm missing? I'm having a movie night tonight, and people will be here in about 2 hours.... doh!

Pull the CLM and remove the DPB, press down on U7 and re-seat that board a few times on the CLM.
Also did you remove the convergence and VDM cables when you did this?
or the ribon cables that run from the UMB to the CVA and VDM boards?
Those might be off a few pins....also check the daughter board on the HDM, remove and re-seat it a
few times..then move on to the LVPS and re seat that also. try to back trace everything you did.

I did remove the convergence, VDM and ribbon cables, but those were all ok.
I ended up reseating everything again (I had already done it once), and it just fired up ok. So there was something still amiss, but all is ok now.
Thanks! Movie night can go on... whew. My friends would have not let me hear the end of it if they came over and the mighty Marquee was down.

Yeah, I've had the occasional h.fail light, but never both h.fail and v.fail at the same time, so that was a new one for me.
We ended up watching Wall-E on blu-ray, which looked and sounded amazing. Then we went through several high intensity scenes from The Dark Knight on blu-ray so I could really show off the system.

I wish more film makers would shoot film instead of HD handycams, the presentation of The Dark Knight was superb! Especialy the IMAX scenes. Incredible detail. The downgraded transfer to 1080P was good too.
