I decided to check G2 today on our 1272 and was amazed to measure voltages less than 2v on every tube.
So after a couple of sanity check searches here and beer for courage, I went for it.
I switched to an empty input slot, and reset gain and bias to factory default before adjusting. I was nervous about shorting the terminals, so went very slow. All three guns are now at 4.0x and the IQ makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.
The factory sticker was still in place on those trim knobs, fwiw, and there's a lot of wear on the blue and green tubes. Widescreen movies are within the burned area, so it's not noticeable most of the time.
I'm just amazed, and truthfully, there's plenty of room yet in the focus/calibration on this pj. Incredible...
Thanks guys!
Dan and Laurie

I just got confirmation. If your set has 07msp tubes then your G2 should be 1.5 volts. Reset it now before you kill your projector.

Thanks for the save! I do have those tubes and reset them to 1.5v.
Would be nice to adapt a microservo system for these. Switch to an unused port and press a button to have a circuit microstep each one to nominal voltage.

Do a search on AKB. It's a circuit that automaticaly does something with the G2's I belive.
Guess I should have paid more attention in class

Hmm. would that explain why I measured 1.59 on every tube after running some video for awhile and coming back to the unused interface?

Squirelly, these things can be, yes.
Why is the voltage always changing, I am wondering?

I thought there was a way to disable the AKB while doing the G2's but again. I'm not sure. I never did do mine. (<slacker )
