About a year ago, I swapped switchers (from RCVDS800 to RCVDS05) and added an HD Fury and Crescendo RTC2220 so that I can use HDMI sources and connect up to my house system (Russound VM1 1080p matrix switch)

I got the setup working but never to the point that I liked what I saw. Work then got in the way and I never had the time to optimize it. Something I like to do now.

I decided to get rid of the switcher and bought a VP50 from a friend. Connected it to to the Barco via RGBHV and really like what I see.

I am now trying to figure out how to setup the fine tuning and deal with some connectivity. I hope that you can help me on this.

1. What is the best output source on the VP50 to use for the projector, given that I have 1 HDCP protected source (PS3)?

Right now I have: PS3 via HDMI->HDFury->VP50 via RGBHV in->Barco via RGBHV out
I could also do: PS3 via HDMI->VP50 HDMI out->HDFury->Barco via RGBHV

2. How to optimize the display settings for the Barco/VP50? Not the geometry/convergence, I am thinking brightness, color, gamma, etc. Still have the Crescendo as well. Use the defaults on the VP50 and calibrate the projector only?
How does the gamma adjustment compare between the RTS2220 and the VP50?

3. The VP50 has numerous sync settings, most of which seem to work with the Barco. Is there a preferred one for optimal image (like H-negative V-negative)?

4. Is there any value to throw a HDFury 2 into the mix? Leave out the RTS2220?

5. This is a late version 808S w/Iris3. Since the VP50 has the ability to define the output settings quite nicely, I am trying to figure out that the "sweet-spot" setting for that projector is. While it can to 1080p, I am not crazy about the image. What has worked well for you?

I know these are many questions, but I want to take my time to finally optimize my setup again.

Many thanks!

Never got a single reply so I thought I draw things up and let you pick your preference.

I just like to get the best picture quality out the setup and like your advice. Would you change things? or which setup do you prefer and why?

My questions are only for the Home Theater setup. The house setup is a nice feature because it adds a lot of sources via a single input Smile

Thanks so much for your help.

Either set up should work fine. i don't think it matters where the HD fury is but it might be better as you have it in Setup 1. I guess try both and look for any differences using the PS3 only as it needs the HD fury. the other sources might benifit more by not running them through the HD FURY also
