Main Screen

Was bored on this cold weekend and decided to put together a little application to control aspect ratios for software based DVD & Blu-ray players. It's pretty basic right now but does seem to work. I still need to add support for hotkeys but I wasn't sure what would be the best way to implement, so any feedback would be appreciated.

Setup a custom resolution like 1920X800p then stretch the player to fill the screen.

Requirements: DOT.NET framework version 2.0

For PowerDVD make sure you have "Stretch to Fit the Screen" checked under Aspect Ratios on the PowerDVD context menu.

Create a new Aspect Ratio Press "New" button select the application to control. Name your new aspect and press OK.

New Aspect Ratio

Assign a hotkey press "Hotkey" button then select the function to assign to the hotkey.

Assign Hotkey

To view assigned hotkey press the "?" button next to close box on the main screen.

Hotkey Help

Download and unzip from this link.

Edit: New version uploaded 1/26/09

Support for dual monitors, when the application is moved past 60% on the second monitor the blanking then moves to the second monitor. Only works on side by side monitor setups.

Customizable hotkey support for over 35 functions.

Global checkbox options now have persistence.

Thanks!
Mike

You need controlling in the worse way. Someone mentioned your name on that plane causing it to ditch in the Hudson River. Mike is just trying to make it safer for folks around you. Razz

I just tested with PDVD, the player will move to the second screen but the blanking stays on the primary screen. It should not be a hard thing to fix.

Hey Mike,

how about a formal change log at the bottom of your first post? I know you have one there, but, add the date the feature is released?

It's always fun reading those a few years latter to see the progression of an idea.

LOL...No need, not much value unless your masochist and insist on using PowerDVD. Better free players like Zoom player and MPC-HC have the features built in. It was kind of a modern update to YXY.

Yes, ZoomPlayer has a bewildering array of Aspect Ratio and Blanking controls/presets.

I think I had to create a custom aspect ratio when I tried 804p at 72hz.

yeah...That's what I had in mind too...Problem was 804p really didn't look that much better than 1080p, it was really a hassel too, some of the guys over at AVS with A-lens use it, or at least did at one time. It's a nice interface isn't it?, it was more or less a copy or attempt to copy of how TheaterTek's AR control worked.

Yes...I wondered about all the fuss, and went back to 1080i 96hz.
