Ah, the unfortunate experience of observing a streaking artifact. I have read some posts on this issue however did not get a thorough understanding of the possible causes or tweaks to lessen the effects.

Has this issue been resolved? Is this a dead issue? If it is not resolved and there interest in resolving it, let’s do it!

Regardless, if anyone has documentation, Sony tech bulletins or theories on this issue I would appreciate if you will email it to me.

I'd like to see some examples to see how it compares to the picture defect I have on my G70... I'd call it "streaking", too. I'll try to post a pic of my effect if I could find the time to get down to the basement.

It seems that 1292 have also fainter streak to left.

Here's my test pic if someone like to test.

MP wrote that he is going to post his finding about 1292 streaking.

Removing ABL components from some Barco models rgb amps helps to get rid of streaking.

So it could be something to research also in Sony, I think it's called AKB in sony.

Wow, that is nasty. I don't think the problem I have is that pronounced. Thanks, Ile - I'll throw your file on the PS3 and see what happens.

Nobody has fixed this on the 1292.

This is the main reason a 1292 is umm, less well regarded than the other 9"ers.

If someone would fix it, then I would like a 1292...but not the way they are.

Sounds like a fun challenge! But is worth the effort? In my opinion the overall picture quality is far from perfect. The main issues being streaking, average overall brightness and brightness overshoot ( when going from very dark pic to bright pic). Interesting fact, my 1252 doesn't suffer from the streaking problem. Could it be related to the electronic focus?

If there are enough 1292 users out there that want to get involved in this project let me know. I don't expect it will be a simple matter however I believe it can be accomplished with a team effort.

Ask Mike Parker, he is working on a fix for this Smile

Unfortunatly.. it's not an easy fix, so probably not worth for MP to develop it any further. In the thread about the streaking you can read about the long way the problem goes.

Mike posted somewhere he will make the fix availeble for diy?

Ecrabb,

When you find time I would be interested in seeing what "streaking" you get on your G70, I believe I may have the same problem, I have always thought it was due to my crappy cables and 1080p 60 sources though.

Yes, I heard that Smile I have read many posts on this issue however have not gained any technical facts as to the cause. Speculation from tube design to sync instability but no hard facts. I started this post hoping to get meaningful data supporting a sound theory as to a probable cause. Why start at ground 0?

This is a strange problem, I am going to guess it's a feedback / oscillation issue related to a specific signal differential on any given scan line. Just a gut feeling at this point.

What is needed to pursue this is a programable signal source capable generating a pattern that will cause the streaking effect. It must also be capable of outputting a trigger pulse, for any given scan line, allowing line by line data analysis. With this in hand it should be relatively easy to track down the source of the problem. Right ? So, if anyone has something like this lets talk. Well, only if the poll rating supports it! Not looking good at this point..
