Hi Guys,

I've been talking with David and he was asking me which player is better. So I thought I would ask the experts here for him.

David wrote:

The BDP-09FD looks promising , but would it be a waste since I will be using 1080i?

Should I look towards the BDP-05FD or even the ps3?

What are the pros and cons of each?

He has a Pioneer Elite 700 RPTV.

Suggestions?

I've been using the PS3, but only with flat panels (both plasma and LCD). Amerika doesn't get those Pioneer player Commie models. Are you not using anything now?

I think the pioneer models use the Qdeo chips set from Marvel. This I think is a much better chip than the Reon chips. its the same Chip in the LG BH200 Super Multiblue player and in lots of Meridian Processors. Do a google on Qdeo and check out Marvels web site on it. I think there is a page link to what products use this chip, its not used my many because of its higher cost. But it really is a great looking chip with excellent control features if the company lets the end user access them like in the BH200.

ClearlyQdeo

I say go the cheap route. I got one of these for Christmas and no problems so far plus analog 5.1 audio output. The remote is OK and no glitches so far. Great bang for the buck ! Save the big bucks for a future upgrade if needed.

Love the PS3, even if you only want it for a Blu-ray player. It makes even standard DVD's look amazing.

I think you can still rent PS3's, rent one for a weekend and see for yourself.
