Does anyone in and around the GTA have a torus screen? I'd like to take a look at one to see how it performs.

Cheers Ken

Atom has one, not sure if has posted in a while or if he still has it set up. i drove up to his place to pick up some marquee parts a couple years ago. it was a small screen, but it was cool how it curved when he turned on the fan to suck it into shape. very quiet design too, no noise at all.

You could turn a Ford Tarus on it's side and beat the roof in 'till it's concave and project onto that. I'd recommend the silver car. Laughing

lol!!!

Hey Jeremy have you tried BD Rebuilder? AWESOME!!!!! I shrunk Batman The Dak Knight Blu-Ray down to fit on a DL DVD+R in h.264 format WITHPOUT any loss in video quality. Though the audio is now 448khz DD

But it is AWESOME!!!!!!!! I am stunned, you cannot tell at all it is 8gb of h.264 as opposed to 32GB AVC + HD Audio It will make archiving on disc 5 times cheaper now!

But on my lowly dual core 2gz cheapest PC from Best Buy ($349) machine, it took 22hrs to encode. I have read that on a good quad-core it takes about 8 hours. The new i7's maybe 5hrs. So now I have a reason to buy my 1st new PC since 2003. The cheap dual-core belongs to my eldest son Smile

If you shrunk it from 32GB down to 8GB there is definitely a loss in video quality.

No I havent tried shrinking anything. I have to get to my HTPC later today it's stuck on boot up with the add in SATA/USB/Firewire card. I forgot to load the driver when I reinstalled windows so I gotta pull it all apart again. That's the biggest disadvantage to a little case. It takes longer to swap the cards out.

Atom needed to take down his torus and he gave the material to me. I'll be building the same design in the next few weeks.

Try it Chris, you will be shocked. On paper you are right, but to my eyes, and anyone I have had over including professionals, thet can't see the difference. It's shocking. Though I do lose my HD Audio format but I don't care.

try it, just once, love to hear your thoughts

So, does this basically make it into an mkv file? If so...I believe you. I've been watching them lately and I think they look great!! Best scenario is probably getting the DTS track, because it will still be a very high bitrate, even without HD-MA.

Turns it into a BD9 palyabble on standalone BD players. I took the copy of TDK to BB at the weekend and it played on all the BD platers I tried. The BB guys could npt belivee it was a DVD DL disc. We ran it side by side on 60" LCd's with the original nd no one coudl tell whcih was which.

Freakin awesome!
