Hi, happy New Year to all.
I am having a problem with green colors and my new HDFURY2 v3 that HKMod is helping me with in his forum.

However, I have a basic question regarding 1080i.

I have a Runco 980 Ultra. When I press "Info" on the controller, I get:
M-01 HDTV1 Lock OFF
fh=33.7KHz Sync Detect Auto SEPA.
fv=59.9 Hz
Sync HD (+) VD (+) Color Temp 6500K AKB OFF
Video Mode RGB Counter 11 Timer 0006:32
Position WIDE Font NORMAL Astig DEFAULT

This is a new input for the HDFURY2 and is a copy of an input (M-04) that did 1080i through an AA9A65.

I am using the HDFURY to replace a Faroudja DVP 2200 that did 800x600 and it's fh was 37.8KHz

I just wanted to double check, since I read in Curt's primer that you need 36KHz for 1080i.

Thanks.....

Hi wayne, glad to see you found the forum.

Yep this is 1080i/60,

Did you take your Farudja (sp) outta the loop all together?

Jeremy

Yes. The Faroudja is out of the loop and won't power up. Therefore, it won't pass through the 1080i output from the AA9A65.
I bought an HD-15 to 5 Female BNC in prep for the HDFURY2 and since it arrived first, I put it in the following:
StarChoice DSR505(set to 1080i output)-component-AA9A65-Gender bender-BNC breakout adapter-30' long BNC cables-projector
The color was good at 1080i.
Sync HD(-) VD(-)

When the HDFURY2 arrived I tried the following:
StarChoice DSR505(set to 1080i output)-DVI to HDMI cable-HDFURY2-Genderbender-BNC breakout adapter-30' long BNC cables-projector
The color is definitely heavy on the green.
Sync HD(+) VD(+)

I noticed the Sync is different from the two devices. What does that refer to and is it significant?

Another question please. What does "LOCK ON" do in the signal source.

Thanks....Wayne

So the 980 Ultra is a 9PG Xtra right ( just trying to figure out what you have there )

1080i by default is + + sync

So if you are getting - - sync from the AA9A65 it must be inverting it.

Where are you seeing "LOCK ON"?

Hi Jeremy,
Yes, I believe the Runco 980 Ultra is the same as a 9PG Xtra (based on Curt's cross reference)

LOCK is one of the options in the "Source Information" screen. The only thing the manual says is "Source lock for RGB signal".

Is there a switch on the HD Fury2 for selecting the output? If so, and youre getting a very green picture, you may have the output set to "Component" instead of RGBHV.

Ive never used one of these, so i am only guessing, it may or may not be worth a look Smile

Hi,
Thanks for responding.
Yes, there is a switch, labeled RGB/YUV, on the side. It is definitely in the RGB position.
See my other post "Picture Green with HDFURY2 and Runco 980 Ultra Projector" for more details on the HDFURY2.

No worries mate, thought it was worth a mension. Like i say though, i dont know anything about the HD Fury2, although i do have a very simular projector.

What happens if you switch it to the component mode? Is there any change at all? If there isnt, id have to think there is some kind of issue with the HD Fury2 that you have received, and it may even be faulty.

Its not out of the question i spose, although it does indeed look like a very top class piece and i reckon ill buy one myself soon.

If youve given that a shot, switching between the two and watching for a change, then that is as much help as i can offer, as little help as that is.

Its 2:11am on monday morning here in Australia, im off to bed!! Good luck mate!! Smile

I just put that you need 36Khz H scan rate for 1080i as a bit of a safety margin to make 100% sure that 1080i at 33.7Khz will work with a projector. Sets that max out at 32Khz won't do 1080i.

Thanks Curt.
Thanks also for this great website and for recommending and selling me the AA9A65 back in 2006. I love HD.
I bought your HDFURY2 SE kit to replace my failed Faroudja DVP2200 take me forward into the BluRay world (via HDMI).
I just got the HDFURY2 to work without green tinge, so I will continue that post in the HDFURY forum.
I still have retrace? lines on the Runco, but will deal with that after I get the HDFURY2 and GAMMA-X working.
Thanks again.
