I took the r and b tubes out for glycol...put them back in and the picture comes on for 3 seconds then off for 3...and this continues and I can't get a constant pic.
I do suspect my vga cable or something to do with the synch connectors...it seems that touching those cables enabled me to get a picture...but now touching them further doesn't help me to get a better picture.
3 seconds on 3 seconds off...and when off, the blue tube has noise, the r and g are blank.
Projector has been unplugged in my somewhat cold basement for the better part of 2 weeks now...could that be a factor?
Removing and re-installing the tubes seemed quite straightforward with the G2 and neckboards being the only connections involved....but I guess I managed to foul it up somehow. Any thoughts?
Ben

I had a similar problem one time after removing the tube connectors on a sony. Turns out I had bent one of the pins on the tube. I straightened the pin and it worked fine.

I verified all the pins last night before I attached the neckboards....but I'll definitely check 'em again!
Thanks,
Ben

Ben,
Can you access the menu's? Do they go on and off too or is it just the input signal?

I can sometimes get at the menu...but not staying on the screen. If it comes up, it's gone just as quick. And, when I power off the projector, it goes off and comes right back on.

And the same to you.
But while we're on the subject of broken Barco's, he wouldn't have that problem if he owned a AmPro. In fact if it were a 4600HD, he'd have no problems

First check those tube grounding cables from neck board to tube neck.
Remove neck board cables and hv cable from one tube at time to see if it run longer with just two tubes connected. Start from blue tube.

I'll bet it is one of those cables...One came loose during tube extraction, but I put it back together..maybe another came loose and I missed it.
Are you saying to fire up the projector without HV for R&G? Or just pick a tube and disconnect it from HV and neck board? Then plug that tube back in (if issue still exists) and then try the next tube?

Seems to me that you're not losing HV if the pix is pulsing on and off. WHen it comes back, does the pix start large and out of focus, and 'zoom in' to then fill the screen, and comes into focus, or is this an instantaneous on and off? If it's instantaneous on and off, the HV is consistent, and it's some video problem. Check all connections, check the scan fail light on the G2 board. It could be a bad G2 board as well as a video issue.

I took the tubes out, but I'll put them back in later tonight.
Curt, I think the pic was bigger and got smaller, but I can't be certain. I'll report back later.
Thanks guys!

I actually did break one of the ground wires (the green tube), but I resoldered it and still an issue! Then I simply had to adjust the image to one side via the htpc controls and I was good. No more blinking picture! I noticed an i2c error at 86h, i searched the forum and saw that it had to do with horizontal position...so that's why I moved it in the htpc.
I'm pretty stoked as I thought I was done with this thing...and I wouldn't pay to ship another one here at this point.
I do however still have an issue or two...the main one now is that if I simply touch the builtin remote, the pictures blinks off for a second or two. I think the screen shows an invalid key entry error. Do people have major issues with this thing? And when I say touch it, I mean just that...if I gently touch it, the screen will blank.
I have also noticed that the light on the blue neckboard is sometimes off...
Wow...it's amazing how many things can go wrong with these things these days. I guess touching the remote on the projector is no biggie, but the light on the blue neckboard is a bit disturbing. Any ideas what that is?
