This is for the LC Quees.
Have any of you run into a problem where when you bolt on a HD-10 lens to the coupling that is working perfectly and after snugging up the screws, the center focus binds to the point that you can't turn it. If you remove the lens from the coupling, it spins perfectly? Is there something keeping this from seating correctly and tightening it distorts the lens enough to make it bind? This is on Heywoods 9500LC that has just gotten new fluid and bellows changes. To give you a idea how bad it binds, he snapped the lock nut stud, pushing on it with his thumb while trying to adjust the lens. I have not looked at it my self but two lenses in the same position are doing the same thing.

Yep, the odd 9" lens seems to be really picky as to the roundness of the outside barrel. Given that you can tilt the lens in almost every direction with the Scheimpflug adjustments, it might be an idea to leave the one screw slightly loose. (flame suit on.. CONVERGENCE DRIFT, CONVERGENCE DRIFT!)

I just can't imagine strain causing the binding... The Mechanical Engineer in me sees that conical form in aluminum and thinks "this is stiffer than Ron Jeremy at a fluffers convention." (Sorry for the visual boys! )
Tomorrow will be day two of "called-in during my last-chance, use-it or lose-it vacation." I hate my job. When/if I regain the time and strength I'll try to loosen all the screws and see if the things un-bind themselves.

I had one of the lenses on my 1100 bind when I was putting it on, and I found it went on better when I turned the center focus all the way out.

Hmmm.... How old is Gary? If he's 40+, then $50 says it goes back to the days of 8mm!

Somewhere around here, I have a regular 8mm copy of Deep Throat. Only bits and pieces of it, a friend stole it from his bad back in 1980 and brought it over as I had/have an 8mm projector. Wonder if I should throw that on eBay???

Dude -- if it goes back that far it would be VHS. Beta was a superior format back in the day, but the reason VHS won the format wars was that there was a lot more porn available on VHS.
