|
|
Hi,
I was wondering, is it possible to rebuild a BD808s into a BG808s.
Now i have a BD808s with P16NLP tubes & 120 mhz neckboards.
I tought the power supply and hor def board where different on bd808s and bg808s.
So if i swap powersupply & hor def & cpu board i should have a bg808S ?(without scheimpflug).
Or are there other things that have to be changed?
greetings

For HT purposes a BD808s with P16NLP tubes and 120MHz neckboards is enough, there is no benefit in making your projector able to scan higher. The video-chain is/was the limiting factor and you have already solved that issue.
Yust enjoy your projector.

For the moment i'm unable to display 1080P even with a scaler.
Rebuilding my bd808s to an bg808s won't solve the problem if i'm correct ??
Other's claim to display 1080P on there BG808S.

What do you mean precisely when you say "can't display 1080P" ?
Does the image stretch off the screen, or does the video mute, or
display "scan out of range", or do you get rolling lines and instability?
What year model is your BD808S? (small sticker on the rear)

I've got timing issues. retrace time to long
Unable to display complete image.
Phase shift or raster shift doesn't solve the problem. Scaler doesn't solve problem neither.
Buildyear is July 1997

A good scaler should allow you to set custom video timings,
you need to add some porch - check the "Barco set-up questions"
thread in this forum for some more precise information and
workable examples.

I tried multiple timings i found on different websites.
With adjusting the timings i can see a little bit more of the image until the projector won't display anything anymore.
The 1209 in that toppic has 2 set of coil's. low and high scanning. a BD808s has only one set.

Hi Charles,
Ok, glad to hear you are trying some experiments -
sounds like some progress....
I am familiar with most Barco, but have not done
your conversion - yet. The Hi-Lo retrace switching
on the G1209S isn't really an issue here, that switch
wouldn't occur until around 1080P@72Hz anyhow,
unless someone sets it lower to get around the width
issue caused by small porch "digital" video timings.
But there are other ways of getting around the width
issue if you can use the scaler. It just takes time.
I have built up several BG808S with LC housings
and P16 tubes and HD-18 lenses, and I have tested
the BG808S chassis well beyond 1080P@72, just to
see what it would do, which is quite a lot...!
(...poops out at about 1440x1920@96Hz...)
If the PJ is muting video as you increase the porch
settings, then it may be worthwhile to try a BG808S
control board - I don't think there is that much different
in those later model machines. And it is easy to swap
the tube mounts if you don't have the continuous
schliemphlug adjustments.
Good luck,
Galen

Isn't PAL the broadcast system used in Belgium ?
http://www.kropla.com/tv.htm
What source and format are you using ?

That's true.
But i'm trying to use a ps3 @ 1080P60hz.
1080i60hz works fine.
I know there are problems with 50hz sources.
