I just got out to my theater room, fired up my G70 to find an Error 36 (V. Stop)

I have family coming for Christmas as well as a new screen coming in the next few days so this failure was not welcome in the least. Luckily it turned out to be nothing more than a loose V board, I pulled the board out, blew the dust off of iut and put it back in after not being able to find anything obviously wrong with it. The G70 is working fine now Very Happy

Just wanted to remind everyone to remember to reseat boards when the have problems before going crazy with worry.

-Happy Days,

Erik

Also, possibly be prepared for a failure shortly. Hopefully not of course, but with Sony having locks on most of their boards unlike the Marquees, it could be that you wiggled something just right by taking the boards out to temporarily fix it. Mine you, V boards don't fail too often on the G70s.

Possibly, but hopefully not. I'm attributing the failure to me moving the G70 from it's old mount to the new one and things being rattled loose during the move.

How much will it be to replace/fix it if it does break?

Thanks,

Erik

Has this Error 36 resurfaced or did it go away after you reseated the Vertical board?

It hasn't come back again. The G70 has been rock solid since I reseated the board.

Cool. I had a guy pick up a couple of G70's tonight. One of them showed Error 36 after 10-15 minutes, so I gave it to him for free. Hopefully it's something as simple as reseating that V board.

He's local and I could tell he was well-suited for the whole CRT adventure, so at this point I was more interested in having another happy CRT owner showing up at our area meets than making a few bucks. So I made him a buy one get one free deal and he left with visions of a G70 blend or stack dancing in his head. Cool

Plus, the wife is always very happy when I get rid of a couple of projectors. Thumbs Up

sorry has to be said.....

Please. Wipe off the projector when you are done.

Gives the words "I'm mounting my projector" a whole new meaning. Laughing

I dunno, I don't think I'd consider that lucky. I mean a G70 is a sexy looking projector, but....!!!
