Faroudja DVP5000 s/w upgrade

In his last newsletter Curt Palme has the following quote about a DVP5000: "The unit needs to go to Faroudja for a software upgrade so that it becomes a full scaler instead of a 1080p output only processor." Has anyone experienced this upgrade? What is the cost and procedure? I can not find the information on Faroudja's site. I bought this processor at the same time I bought my G90 projector in 1999. It has never been serviced or "upgraded".Thanks.

The current Faroudja company doesn't support this, call them for the name of the 'old' Faroudja, I don't have it handy. It's something cheap like $150 to update the software to turn it from a fixed output to a selectable scan output.
