Hi there,

i recently purchased my first CRT ( 1292 QM ) with some 400 hrs tubes. Took me some time to set up (good thing i ordered Grahams setup disc ... great job by the way !!!) the beast, but tamed it pretty much in the end, snoring like a cat.

I bought a second IFB for RGBHV input of which one is connected to my HDPC with HDFury1 set in between (don `t know wether
it is needed) and my XBOX 360 on the other one.

I have been reading quite a lot through various forums, and getting more confused the more i read, therefore the following
questions:

1.) if i buy Moomes IFB HDMI board will i still be needing a linedoubler to watch 720p/1080p (analoge progressive) material, or will
the board do all thats needed ?

2.) which of the two shows the better results: IFB HDMI board or the external HDMI to RGBHV box (which of course would be some $ 100,- cheaper) ?

3.) would a good scaler / linedoubler (DVDO / Crystalio ...) be a better choice over above mentioned solutions ?

4.) Does the signal of a (my) HDPC (DVI-D output over a Geforce 9800 GTX) actually sent the material in progressive ... like i am
playing games or watching a blu-ray over it ?

5.) Even so i think i set my CRT up quite good for a first timer, when screening my desktop on a 1920 x 1080 resolution i can hardly
read it by being prox. 5 m away. Should i actually have a crystal clear PC image / Picture if set up 100 % correct, or will it never be as clear as to being able to read it (106 " screen) ?

I know a lot of questions, but as long as some of them get sorted i will certainly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for your help, and keep up the good work.

Moome's cards do not do any scaling. They convert HDMI to a format that the projector can understand and add gamma adjustment.

Most source devices have scalers built in however. What sources are you using>?

The IFB-FULLHD card is higher end than the EXT-FULLHD. The IFB-FULLHD has a full 12 bit data path instead of 10 bit. 1500Mz video amp instead of 1000Mhz, 12 bit DAC instead of 10 bit, three discrete DACs instead of 1, etc. Look at the order pages for flow charts showing the differences.

A scaler/doubler will scale the resolution. The devices above are for converting HDMI to analog. Two different things here.

No idea. Ask in the HTPC forum. Though most PC's only output progressive unless you specifically set it to do interlaced using Powerstrip or something similar.

No idea. I've never owned a 1292. A lot of factors are involved here. You should ask in the CRT PROJECTORS forum.

Hello Kal, thank?s for the quick reply,

well, i am using a xbox 360 with its VGA cable and bridged it to fit my IFB board (RGBHV) and then my HDPC with DVI-D output over
my Geforce 9800 GTX also bridged over HDFury and RGBHV cable.

the reason i opened the thread in the first place was, cause i got a third component (my IPTV Receiver) all three machines will have HDMI output (well my PC only over a DVI-D to HDMI adapter).

I want all of them to output progressive HD material (which they do digitally), so i need a good solution to plug them into my 1292
which should throw a nice progressive picture onto my screen. I hope i got it right that the VPH 1292 QM is able to play analog progressive material (Multiscan) ... right ?

in the end i only want the best solution which will provide the best picture quality ... at a reasonable price.

Thank you for your answer in advance

Yes. it'll do 1920x1080 no problems from what I understand. I've never owned one however.

You
ll need an HDMI switcher. Connect your HDMI devices to the switcher and the output of the switcher to the HDFury.

Use the other input on your projector for your PC.

hello Analogrocks,

thanks for the tip, thats how i planned on doing it before reading all the great stuff the IFB HDMI can do ... sharper picture, contrast, Gamma ... the thing is will it really be worth buying it or is it just a minor improvement over my HDMI 1.

thanks for answering

Moomes Internal HDMI cards do have better pictures than the HdFury from what i understand, So i would get one if I were you, just for the gamma alone. I know you will love it, add the HDMI switch that is on this site and you will have 4 HDMI inputs, three from the switch and two on the Moome card(one will be fed by the switch) Then you will need to set up an separate memory on the input of the 1292 for each source unless you plan to upscale all tot he same resolotion, I would not do this. Its better to have each source set up for its best resolution, SD DVD set up for 720 or 960p, HD/Blu Ray 1080p, and then HD Sat/Cable 1080i@72 0r 96hz.
