What is up with the Sony PlayStation store and offering of game demos? For instance, with every Xbox 360 game I own there is a demo of the game that is available on Xbox Live. Yet, while these same games are available for the PS3 not a single one of them have a game demo available in the Sony PlayStation store.
Is this because game developers just will not release game demos for the PS3, or is this [another] situation in which Sony is doing a lousy job at using a correct marketing tool?
I really wanted to compare some of the game titles I own (Rainbow Six Vegas/2, Ghost Recon/2, GTA4, etc.). Its understandable if the platform doesn't have the game available for it (e.g. bought SOCOM: Confrontation for the PS3, but its not available for the Xbox), but this is something else.

Not sure -
I have downloaded and played a number of demos - but never compared which ones are there vs which ones are not there

There are hundreds of PS3 game demos available at the Playstation Store.
Are you complaining that every single PS3 game available for purchase in store also doesn't have a demo available? I can't imagine that every single Xbox game has a demo available for it either.
Just like PC games, demos aren't always feasible or possible. They're a ton of work to put together. Sometimes a demo will come out 6 months after the actual game is out.
Sometimes demos never come out because the game is either (a) crap, so they don't want you to know it by playing a demo first, or (b) so simple that a demo would pretty much give everything away or the person will find the demo interesting enough such that the full version isn't needed, or (c) a demo just isn't possible since it would have to cripple the game too much which in turn doesn't make the demo interesting, or (d) sheer size doesn't permit it to be done correctly.

Kal, I am complaining that every game I own for the 360 that I know is also aware of on the PS3 is void of any demo in the PlayStation store. Coincidence?

There's a Virtua Tennis demo on the PSStore... Do you own that for the 360.
I don't know if there is a real conspiracy here. There are lots of demos on the PS Store and many of them are fun. If you own the game for the 360,... just play it on the 360. If a PS3 demo was out it would just show you how much better it would have been if you bought the PS3 version but now it's too late.

Yeah it's fun when you can buy two or three add ons for a game you don't own, and still there is no demo for the game, for the PS3.
I'll bet that Sony CE is just lazy to capitalize on their own stuff. Otherwise they should have offered streaming HD music and HD movies a year ago. What with Sony Music and Sony Picture and all. And not to mention offering demos as fast as is done for the PC or Xbox. Personally I don't care if they are in for the long haul of ten years, I live today.

There are only 60-70 demos collectively (both PS3 & PSP) showing up for me in the Sony Playststion store. I do not know where Kal is getting the 'hundreds' figure, but maybe its a geographic thing.

Have you looked in the alphabetical listing of the demos? I have found things there that were not in the main listing.
