anticipating my new tv (samsung LN46A550) i went out and bought an eye one monitor and downloaded your excellent guide to calibrate it before the tv arrived. however, i am running into a problem both with my new samsung and my old tv i also wish to calibrate, a sony KDL-46V2500. it seems this guide is set up to make more sense for projectors in some respects? i can't find anything that corresponds with rgbhighend or lowend on either tv (nor could i on my old samsung dlp). for instance on my new samsung there are a whole range of color adjustments in the user menu listed as "color space", where i can adjust the r/g/b settings for 6 different colors but that doesn't sound anything like what your describing. similar thing with the sony, i can adjust colors but it doesn't seem like it is a gain or cut adjustment like the guide talks about. HOWEVER, i think on the sony you can access it under the service menu (at least i think this is it - you can adjust r/g/b drive which i assume is highend and r/g/b bkg which i guess is lowend, can someone confirm or deny this?). are the settings for the samsung also under the service menu, and if so can someone tell me how to access it? BTW, having to go into the service menu and change settings isn't really spelled out as something that needs to be done in the guide and at least in my eyes changes the ballgame a little, seeing as how a novice like myself could really screw things up bad (yes i have the original settings copied down, but it still makes me nervous). any comments/help/advice would be appreciated!

maybe i can just spend all day replying to my own thread Rolling Eyes

so i answered one of my questions by reading a little of the Q/A guide - the samsung has the gain/offsets under 'white balance'. so that's one down. if anyone could help me with the sony, i would still appreciate it.

Some TV sets have those in a service menu where you need a service code to get into. I guess you have to do a search for it. but be careful in the service menu, if you don't know what something is don't touch it!! you can really mess up a set that way then need a technician to fix it.
