I got this projector from a guy at work who was remodeling his home theater. He told me there was nothing wrong with it other than some calibration issues, so I brought it home and plugged it in. I think (although I wouldn't swear) that I heard a relay click, but there were absolutely no signs of life other than that, so I unplugged it and set it aside for a month or three.

I had some free time this weekend, so I pulled it back out and took apart the PSU. All the fusible resistors (R03, R04, R05) on the smaller board are toast, but the rectifier and other parts appear OK. I wasn't able to find anything fried on the larger board. Replacing the resistors is no problem, but I don't want to spend time and money just to have it immediately fail again due to a deeper issue.

Anyone aware of anything that could cause this?

I have the service manual for your projector but its on the hard drive thats locked up in my truck outside. I have to remove all hard drives when I leave the house so they dont get smashed. I'll get it tomorrow and check it out for you. Later

If not, I have spares. I'd change the resistors and power up. If it dies again, it's going to be cheaper to buy a replacement unit off me than it will be to spend time and money troubleshooting yours.

By "replacement unit", do you mean that board, the entire PSU, or the projector itself?

The whole power supply. If it's not a simple resistor blown problem, then it can be really tricky to fix. That's why I keep a few supplies in stock, cheaper to replace than to repair. SHoot me a PM or email at curtpalme@shaw.ca if you don't get it going.

Cheers!
