|
|
HI,
I have a old PC with a HDTV card in it and the video card has DVI output. I only run HDMI to my projector now and don't want to re-run RGBVH cables.
Can I convert DVI to HDMI via a Cable or adapter and feed that into my AVR? I know they are cables that do this and also adapters but I just don't know if they are only supposed to go one way (HDMI to DVI).
??
Thanks,
Brian

Depending on which video card you are using you may be able to get audio over HDMI. I was using an ATI 2600XT and was able to get 2 channel audio over HDMI. I recently upgraded to an ATI 4850 and now get full multichannel audio over HDMI.
Chris.

Chris,
My video card only has DVI... I was hoping to convert to HDMI to feed my AVR.
Like Clarence said... I'll run optical out of a sound card for audio.
Thanks All,...

Hi,
Thanks Clarence and Chris...
I have been watching more of HDTV via my Fusion 5 HDTV card but before putting it back into service in the HT I want to either upgrade the video card or maybe the pc itself. There is a place that recycles PCs near me and I'll go have a look.
Anyway,... Forgot to say THANK YOU.
