I have always wondered what the two metal tabs are on t he back of he deflection coils are. They appear to be similar to the CPC magnets. Does anyone know what they are for?
Thanks,
Bob

you mean the raster centering knobs? (I thought that was all electronic in the XGs)

Yes , The XG's all have electronic raster centering, but there is still a pair of tabs that look just like the raster centering magnets on the PG series. I don't want to mess with them until I find out what they are! Well, I might still mess with them anyway, just because I can't resist the urge.

Are you talking about the little black tabs under this glob of white silicone?

Yes - That's what I'm talking about. There is one on each side of the coil. Do you know what they are for?
Thanks,
Bob

Nope, sorry! I just had a picture of what I thought you were talking about. Perhaps Doug will chime in with the answer. I will search some of my old threads to see if I have asked about this before. It sort of rings a bell but I don't recall exactly.

I'm hoping that it is the permanent magnet equivalent to the electronic raster centering so that I can zero out the electronic, but something tells me it serves some other function.
Thanks,
Bob

I'm guessing those are there to align the yoke squarely on the tube neck rather than a magnetic or electrical adjustment and not intended to be adjusted outside the factory where they are adjusted by Sharks with frikin' LAZERs!

You might be right, as the setup manual makes no mentionof them whatsoever. Maybe Doug or Curt have some idea?
Thanks,
Bob

I don't see them in any of my service manuals either. I thought they might at least show up in the disassembly exploded diagram. While that does go into a good bit of detail, I don't see these in the drawing.
