I've owned a G90U for about ten years and it has never received more than convergence calibration and the simple stuff using Video Essentials. I've ordered a Moome card and am upgrading parts of the system. Looking for someone near Toronto that is experienced and can go through a complete calibration procedure.

BTW, what happens if you feed a 1080p signal via component to the G90? I seem to remember sync problems when I tried to feed 720p a few years ago.

I think the G90 has the same capabilities via component as it does via RGB input. As such, it *should* synch to a 1080p component signal fine, but what source do you have that would actually put out a 1080p component signal ? I've never heard of any BD or HD DVD player that would put out 1080p via component, and most scalers output via RGB. Just curious which source you'd have that does output 1080p via component...

For the past decade my component output has been 480i from a Theta Data. Picture is great but not all it could be. I plan to put in a next-gen BluRay player and a pre/pro that outputs 1080p via HDMI. I have ordered a HDMI input card for the G90.

A few years ago the Data died and I put in a Denon player that output 720p. Nice image. However, the G90 would loose sync and go blank rather frequently. Annoying. I repaired the Data and returned the Denon.

Can't repair the data any more. Time to see what a modern system can do but I am concerned that the G90 won't sync to the high bandwidth component signal from the pre/pro now, or will give trouble with the HDMI signal once that card is installed. Looking for information re feeding non-ntsc or pal signals to the G90.

I have fed 1080P over component on my G90's several times. Never had an issue.

I'm curious as to why you had problems with 720P cause I've fed that as well.

You'll love the HDMI path. It's an extremely improved signal path and is the perfect match for CRT in my opinion.
