Hi,

I have a Barco Data 801s connected to my HTPC. The connection is made with a DVI cable to my Moome box, which goes into the projector into port 3.

The images pulses about half a centimeter up and down. In movies this is hardly noticable, but when my desktop is shown i kinda bothers me.

I pulled out the convergence board to see what happens, but the pusling is still there.

Runtime is about 9800 hours but the tubes are still in good condition. The pulsing is on all 3 tubes.

Which controls do I need to adjust to get the image rock solid? I read about the vertical hold controls, but don't know which nobs to turn.

Vhold pots are in vertical board.

In 801s pots might be in little different position than in pics (800), but there is Vhold low/high text in pcb.

Chancing sync polarity to negative from pc might also help.

there is no difference between port 3 (positive HV sync) or port 5 (negative HV sync) picture is a bit sharper on port 3 so i'll stick with that.

I run 720@60hz. The pulsing is a little less on 720@50hz. When I try 1080i@50hz the pusling is still there so I guess it is not a resolution issue.

When I am setting up the convergence with the internal pattern, the image is rock solid. No pusling what so ever. Could it be that the port 3 & port 5 boards needs tweaking?

About the vertical hold pots. These are masked by stickers. I found the label on the PCB and they are in another location that in the picture. Do i need to remove the stickers and adjust them anyway?

Go ahead, tweaking those pots have fixed similar problems in many Barco I have worked. Those pots tend to drift during time and I also think that sources timings might have something to do with needed setting. Difference in sync period length, etc.

Probably internal patterns use longer sync period than your current resolution. Higher resolutions have smaller timings, so also adjustment need to be more accurate.

ok. removed the stickers. lets see what happens if I tweak these.

There are 2 pots. One with the label VHOLD-L and the other VHOLD-H. Before I start, which pots do I need to adjust? And what kind of pattern should I use? The convergence screen from Nokia monitor test? or the internal genlocked pattern.

Ntest is fine.

H pot (high) would be better to start with 720p, if there is no effect try low pot. Very Happy

Picture start to roll at some point, then just turn back and try to find stable point.
