The only way to get HD out of the newer Dish Network receivers is either component or HDMI connections. I don’t think the 1272 has a component input but there are several options.
X-Vue Box1040 "Lite": Component to RGB Converter for $149 that will take the component output of the Dish receiver and convert it to RGBHV that your 1272 will accept. It also has a gamma boost adjustment that will improve your shadow detail.

RTC2200: Component to RGB Converter with Gamma Boost $189 very similar the Box1040

If you want to run a digital signal (HDMI) to the 1272 here are some other options.
HDFury: Universal DVI/HDMI (HDCP) to RGB Converter $99 or $149 if you need the power supply, but no gamma boost.

HDfury2: Universal HDMI to RGB Converter $249 state of the art converter but not available until next month.

EXT-FULLHD: Universal HDMI 1.3 to RGB Converter $335 most full feature converter including gamma but a little costly.

BTW I have a new Dishnetwork 211 and it looks pretty darn good via component.
