According to the specs of my BluRay player, it will output 1080i component. Ive recently purchased the box 1040 from X-Vue. The converter will output 1080i as well. Is it safe to assume that i'll get a full 1080i resolution or is there something i'm overlooking?.

That's hilarious. I am currently campaigning for the box 1040 for my 9pg+ for the gamma correction. I still need WAF (wife acceptance factor).

How long will it take to get it?

My understanding is the same as yours for the output resolution.
"Supports all standard HD&SD formats from BOTH inputs, 1080p/1080i/720p/576ip/480ip NTSC/PAL "

What I plan on doing is a little different. If you have an HDFury, you can run an HDMI-DVI cable from your Blu-ray then through the Fury plugged into the RGB of the 1040 then rgb-bnc to the projector. I'll be using the Component input for my Wii... I hope.

It will output 1080i over component but only for Blu-ray. It won't upscale DVD at all. It also won't output Blu-ray at 1080i if ever the ICT (copy protection) flags on discs start to get set.

It also won't look as good as HDMI.

This is why most of us use HDMI to RGB/Component converters.

I'm not too concerned about upscaling right now, only 1080i from bluray and cable box. I dont understand this howerver:

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_Constraint_Token

AGain, here are the limitations to using component:

Blu-ray, HD DVD, and DVD players (as well as the Xbox360 and PS3) will not upscale standard DVDs past 480p over component. To avoid this limitation HDMI must be used.

If the Image Constraint Token is ever enabled on Blu-ray or HD DVD discs, all content will reduced from 1080p to 540p (1/5th the resolution) through component. To avoid this limitation HDMI must be used.

And most importantly: The image quality when using component is typically significantly worse. To avoid this limitation HDMI must be used.

What about using the RGB input side? I was planning on running HDMI to Fury which would be plugged into the RGB side of the 1040, Then RGB-BNC. That should keep the resolution shouldn't it?

Yes. That's exactly what many of us do.

The original poster was asking about using component out of the Blu-ray player directly into the Box1040 and then into the display. Like so:

Blu-ray player -> component cable -> Box1040 -> RGB cable -> Display

By not using the HDMI output of the source device, you have the limitations I described earlier. By using HDMI the limitations are all gone.

Sweet, sounds good.
I'll only use the component for my Wii. I seriously can't wait to play Wii on NEC! Mwa-hahaha!!!
