My brothers' mitsu WT-46809 failed with what appears to be a common problem (hourglass or 'bow' geometry collapse) and the fix is a pair of STK392-570. Anybody got a good, cheap source?

Have you or he checked the solder joints on these ic's. The 570 is a pretty strong ic and doesn't usually go out. A bad solder joint is what will take them out but sometimes you get lucky and just resoldering can fix it.

Have not had hands on yet, tho that's likely... the failure happened after having moved the set to a new house.
I'm going to try to get hands on it soon, perhaps this weekend. I'd rather be living my own life tho, WAY too many people are leeching favors off of me.

In the event it has poor solder joints and even after resoldering the convergence is still off, check for 1 or 2 blown pico fuses in the power supply section near the transformer. There should be about a half dozen of them but 2 are specifically for the convergence section. A bad joint can pop the fuses also. If after these checks it still is out of convergence, I have a couple places to get the ic's from. Original Sayno's that you need are 16.49 a piece plus shipping.

Great, thanks. I'll try to head over there tomorrow or sunday and try NOT to make it an all-day affair.
