I'm getting ready to close in the ceiling in my HT. I was moving my non-working BG1208/2 out of the way last night and started wondering about a blend, if I can get it working. Do I need uber expensive blending hardware?
All thoughts and comments welcome.
Peace,
Joel

Dear Joel;
If you want to see a pair of blended Marquee 9500LCs in action, you should drive out to Middleburg this weekend and come to my Home Theater Meet. Activities start early, Saturday afternoon.

I've had a blend setup with a normal pc.
There is Vlc media player software with a panoramix blend plugin available.
The catch is that Vlc player is the only source, so you you may not be able to play all formats available.

I'll be starting my vacation in two days and I've been giving this whole 9" blend thing a lot of thought and I've decided to do it. I quicly came to the conclusion that I didn't have everything on hand to make it happen so I went shopping for the rest of the stock. Here's my stock and tool list please tell me if I've forgotten anything.
1. Six-pack of 9" tall beer mugs
2. A few bags of ice
3. 1/2 gallon Kahlua
4. 1/2 gallon Stoli
5. 1/2 gallon Bailey's
6. Brand new Cuisonart blender
7. 1-500 count bottle of Advil
I think that should give me the result I'm hoping for

That will work but you would be better off ditching the Cuisonart Blender and going for the Kitchenaid Industrial model, Back in my blending days I used to go through a Cuisonart every two weeks.

My blends usually involve a brunette, blonde and a redhead.... And some of the items Chip has lined up.

Is that still available? What ever happened to that blend software from last year?

In all honesty the cheapest blender and maybe the best due to it being the highest possible bandwidth of any scaler now at this time is the TV-One C2-2000A series, with the blend models starting with the C2-2250, you will need two of these and I found mine for 1975.00 each(retail is around 2400.00).
The TV-one engineer said for fun they pushed it over 200Mhz i think it was 1080p@85hz: I found his post on it.:
| TvOneEngineer wrote: | Well the max output is the limit of single link DVI, so 162Mhz. However we got our new wizzy display port monitor this week which will do insane resolutions, so we tested the output to see how far we could over clock the DVI transmitter and we managed about 200Mhz before it fell over this could be the point at which the screens DVI decoder couldn't handle the over clocking. So in summary the offical max output will be any resolution up to 162Mhz, but I managed to get 1080P85 - but that may have been luck !
Initially the control are the same as on the current 2000 series but we are looking at making the S Curve custom and the individual R & G & B gamma curves custom too, but that will be a later free firmware update.

Humm. Well I don't have $5g's to put down on two tvones. I guess I'll give stefuel's plan a try. I hope it doesn't mess up my focus and convergenge too much.
Kal - when are you going to publish the "hair of the dog" calibration procedures?
Peace,
Joel

Yes, google it with 'blending' and 'panoramix'.
There is a topic on Avs were I found a download link.

So I'm sure I have this straight, IF I had say.... 2 Sony 1272s and they happened to be in the same room. I could set up a ghetto blend with a PC ? shouldn't take more than a day (yea right, is this stuff ever done?)

You'll have some work on convergence to get the overlapping part ok, also both crt's should be as bright and have the same colours.
Playing a normal dvd is easy after all has been setup properly
When I made this pic the right half was darker then the left one because my 1272's were not equally setup.

I think a newer version was linked at the cinetson.org forum. There are some mentions on the VLC development site, but couldn't find a newer version there, just old! 'comments' on the development.

I have googled and I am not having any luck being able to download it. I guess it doesn't really matter as I only have one pj right now.
