The pic below shows a Scheimpflug frame (?) taken off of a BG808s, does anyone know if this can be fitted to a BD808s and used for the same purpose or is there a difference in the mounting method of the plates between the two?

Depends on the tube. Most of the BG 808s projectors used Sony tubes. Most of the BD 808 projectors used MEC tubes.
The outside frame and mounting holes in the chassis should line up OK on both as I remember.

Hi,
The frames in the picture will only fit Sony tubes.
The tube's shape is very different, they cannot interchange.
I may have an extra set for MEC (panasonic) tubes.
PM if interested & I will check for you.

Tom,
Obviously my understanding of lens flapping and how it works must be way off the mark, I wasnt aware that it actually moved the tubes themselves but moved the lens placed in front, hence the reason why I thought this might work.
Thanks Tom as always a reliable source of help
G, I will pm you
Cheers,
Tim

Hi Tim,
There are projectors that use spacers or rotating rings, etc to shift the lenses relative
to the tube. However - this approach has a big drawback(!!!) - every adjustment creates
a shift on the screen, whcih will then require either toe-in shift or raster shift to correct.
And so it would be nearly impossible to zero in on a perfect adjustment.
The Barco and Marquee and Sony(LC) continuous adjustments hold the lens fixed
in place, it can only move for toe-in adjustment. The tube is then shifted relative
to the lens to adjust the schliemphlug angle. This allows you to see the focus
shift while you make the adjustments and once you get the hang of it - the process
goes pretty quickly.
