|
|
As some probably have seen in the other topic we might have luck getting the last available red C elements from 3M. It started by asking them for 1 C element for my marquee 9500lc ultra with HD10-G17...so the C-element is meant for this projector (other configurations I am not sure of but it is said by several forum members that it should fit with every HD10 lens.
Reply from 3M:
Hi Arno,
The HD10.RCU is the C element used with the HD10 GT17
The cost will be 150 $ each......BUT.....if I can find enough buyers to cover 24 pieces they confirmed to drop the price to 100$
Additionally there is the time limit for this order.....have to order before the 22nd !
Since most of the forum members are located in the US and to make payment a bit easier Athanasios who also needs some C-elements offered me his help and he will be communicating the final arrangements.
If we want to go for the 24 pieces, this is what needs to be done:
1 Before the end of sunday the 17th: let us know in this topic if you would like to order a RED C element 9500LC/U G17 (first come first served)
2 Before the end of the 19th: The money has to be transferred to Athanasios' paypal account. The total cost will be 100$+3$ paypal fee, adding up to 103 dollar.
3 After Athanasios received all the money he places the order on the 20th
4 After Athanasios receives all the C elements, an additional paypal transfer is required to cover shipment costs to each one of you. Estimated is that this won't exceed 25..30 $.
The paypal transfers will start no sooner than the 18th, so don't start before our inventory is completed
If we don't reach the 24 on the 17th, we will attempt to have a discount anyhow, but everyone can order on his own. For this I will inform 3M to ensure everyone will get the agreed discount (if any).

I'd take 2-3...
I know I could probably flip a whackload of them down the road, but right now given the choice of getting in 25 Barco HV quadruplers or spending money on C elements, I'll buy the quads..

This sounds good - thanks for the efforts!
Is there a possibility that they would allow us to have some greens
(HD10C GRN) mixed in with the order to reach the discount quantity???
This might make it easier to get more people interested.
Thanks,
Galen

All they have is reds Only VDC has Greens and i hear not to many. The only option might be to try and find a company that can tint the clear lens's .

Without damage to the bellow ??? Can this be done on a 9500lc as well?

It is pretty rare and very lucky to get the c element free of the bellows without
damage - sometimes if you can get one side free, then just letting it sit overnight
with a bit of preload (small piece of wood, etc) will help. The more recent the
housing, the easier it is - once they get 10 years old the plastic lens bonds to
the rubber which rips during removal......ouch!
Also, the bellows and c elements are the same for 8500LC and 9500LC.
I have pretty serious doubts you can dye or coat the elements with adequate
uniformity and correct filtering. You would be better off using a filter inside the
front part of the lens, although this may cost you some focus.

It was stuck to the C-element, you just have to go slow and let it come of on its own.
What I did was pry the C-element up out of the hosing a littl bit all around using one of my pry tools
for soldering(radio shack). I worked it till i got the part of the C-element near the top of the housing out from the face plate its held in. looking closely you can see the bellow line on the edge of C-element. I used the sharp edge of the
tool to slowly and very carefully pry it apart from the C-element. Dont go to fat into it. Just
enough to be able to see it separating. Once you get a small area separated i put my finger into the separation and slowy ran it around the C-element, it lifted and separeted the C-element from the housing and the bellow in one shot.
the most time consuming part was removing the glycol, i did that last night, and today i removed the rest.

Up, up.....2 More days to go....
The last 14 Red C elements are close to be gone without an owner since 3M will be shutting down this part of their business...
What shame it would be if you need a Red C after this moment
Order? Order? Who's next?

It will help, but be aware that if we don't reach the 24 pieces we got the old price again...
Put 2 on your name?
